Seeking 7 or more actors to play dozens of zany, over-the-top characters in a madcap spoof of Bram Stoker’s 1897 gothic horror novel guaranteed to induce blood-curdling screams of laughter!

Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors needs a cast willing to take a chance with their acting. All of the characters are quirky and eccentric. The show uses straightfaced comedic situations in the style of movies like Young Frankensein or Monty Python.

Over the top acting is encouraged and welcomed at auditions. The show is designed for only a handful of people to play the dozens of roles. Employing satire and parody, actors will need to develop unique characters they can switch between spontaneously (and hilariously) with just a quick look, vocal change, or a new prop.

Most importantly, let’s have fun and make this a great Halloween show!

SAAC is thrilled to reintroduce one of the public’s favorite programs: Art Talks with Gay Bechtelheimer on Thur, Sept 10. The relaxed, free event begins with refreshments in the gallery at 6:30 p.m., followed by Bechtelheimer’s presentation from the stage.

“Art Talks reflect SAAC’s commitment to lifelong learning, encouraging us to look more closely, ask questions, and expand our understanding of art and its place throughout history,” says Bechtelheimer.

For the September Art Talk, Bechtelheimer will examine the contributions of women artists throughout history. Entitled “She Made It!” the talk will give voice to these extraordinary women artists, the challenges they overcame, and the artistic legacy that they rightfully earned.

“Though long denied access, recognition, and credit, women artists have continuously shaped the history of art,” says Bechtelheimer. “Their resilience against formidable odds established a precedent for future generations to follow and demonstrates to us that creativity thrives when boundaries are challenged.”

After the lecture, please join us in the gallery for the unveiling of the newest accession to the SAAC permanent collection.

The event is free of charge and is presented with open seating. www.saac-arts.org

Remember those old fake ficus trees? You may have one or two collecting dust.........

If you would like to be free of the dust we have an opportunity for you. SAAC's Drama Club would love to take them off your hands! We are needing quite a few for Macbeth.

Know that we will cut them so they can be carried so this is a definite donation.

We really need your help if you would like to donate one or more to us.

Congratulations to Mike Means! 🎉✨The SAAC Theatre Committee has selected Mike as director the Fall Production of Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors. This will be his second time to direct on the SAAC stage, having previously directed 'Peter and the Starcatcher'. A longtime member of local comedy improv group Give Me A Second (GAS), Means also brings extensive experience in comedy and comedic timing to Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors.

For more than 25 years, Means has contributed as a performer, graphic designer, set builder, arts academy instructor and AIE artist. Though relatively new to directing, he is a familiar face on the stage, having appeared in numerous productions, including M.A.S.H., A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Arsenic and Old Lace, Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, Newsies, and Beauty and the Beast.

After years of contributing to SAAC in so many capacities, Means said his decision to direct the production came down to one simple thing: making people laugh, “We all need a good laugh, and this play delivers plenty of them,” Means said. “I’ve always loved making people laugh, and the opportunity to bring a show this funny to the SAAC stage was too good to pass up."

Auditions will be hosted on Sept 14-15. Expect scene readings and improv games.
