💰 Pennies by the Pound is next week! 💰

Starting Tuesday, students can start collecting change to help support the United Way of El Dorado!

This long-standing tradition has been a part of the USD 490 school district since the early 1970s, teaching generations of students the power of giving back. ❤️

This year will look a little different — since the government is no longer making pennies, we’re collecting any and all change 🪙 to make a difference in our community.

The winning class at each school will earn a pizza party! 🍕👏

If you have a middle school student, their fundraiser will be led by the Student Leadership Team, and our high school students are continuing the fun with Pennies by the Inch, but using nickels!

No matter the school or the size of the change, every coin counts toward helping our community. 💪

United Way of El Dorado is seeking a Community Resource Navigator — a compassionate, motivated individual who wants to make a real difference in our community.

The Resource Navigator helps connect individuals and families with local services, assists with budgeting and financial education, coordinates community resources, and supports United Way’s mission to improve lives in Butler County.

📋 Position: Community Resource Navigator
🕒 Hours: 30 hours per week
📍 Location: El Dorado, Kansas
📅 Application Deadline: Resumes accepted through November 7, 2025

This year’s United Way of El Dorado Kickball Tournament was a hit!

A huge thank you to HF Sinclair and our golf committee for putting on such a successful Tim Underwood Memorial Golf Tournament in June.

Because of the generosity of the many contractors who participated, an incredible amount of money was raised in Tim’s honor. A portion of those funds was designated to the United Way of El Dorado, which means our community will directly benefit when allocations take place this coming January.

The Underwood family helps honor Tim’s memory each year by reviewing grant applications and selecting recipients, ensuring his legacy continues to impact lives in meaningful ways.
