Sixty-one years ago, Head Start started as an 8-week summer program. Eight weeks. The idea was modest by design, a way to see if reaching kids early could make a difference.

It made a difference.

What grew from those first summers is now one of the longest-running early childhood programs in American history, serving families in cities, rural towns, tribal communities, and migrant farmworker camps alike. Forty million children and counting.

Today we mark 61 years — not just with pride, but with real gratitude for the teachers, family advocates, nurses, and parents who do this work every single day.

✨Family Service Advocates serve as liaisons between families, communities, and teachers.

✨ABC Education Coordinator works out of the Central Office in El Dorado and provides support to all ABC staff in the agency.

✨Food Transporters ensures the delivery of food to children, assists with set up/clean up, and maintains a safe and sanitary environment.

✨Multiple teaching positions for our infant/toddler program and our preschoolers.
