Here is part two of the selected Poetry Showcase Honorees! We encourage you to read them, enjoy them, and drop a note of kudos.

The honorees will be invited to present their poems at the next public meeting of the BUSD School Board on May 20 at the BUSD District Office at 7 pm, and as always, the public is encouraged to attend! The honorees also receive gift certificates from The Bookhouse and from Steve's Pizza El Dorado Hills.

We couldn't offer this community-boosting event without the generous help of these sponsors: Steve's Pizza El Dorado Hills, The Bookhouse , and Friends of the El Dorado Hills Library. Thank you! Please let them know you appreciate their support if you visit them, or write them a note online.

For National Poetry Month in April, the Buckeye Education Foundation offered its 6th Annual Poetry Showcase, open to submissions from all Buckeye district students. Thank you to all the entrants for taking your time to share your heartfelt, thoughtful, creative, and poignant entries with our Buckeye community! ALL of the entrants will get wonderful prizes, including display of your poem online in the showcase gallery, a personalized certificate, a Friends of the El Dorado Hills Library certificate for a free book from a used book sale, and more! Prizes will be distributed to all participants via their school classroom.

Thank you to our judges for taking on the difficult task of scoring each entry thoughtfully and fairly. This process has been completed, and we now have our top scorers list ready to announce! All of our BUSD poets should be proud of how they captured the theme of "Beauty All Around Us".

Over the next two posts, we will share the selected Poetry Showcase Honorees. We encourage you to read them, enjoy them, and drop a note of kudos!

"I am so grateful for the Buckeye Education Foundation and all your support of our classrooms. Thank you for supporting my creativity as I find new ways to engage and excite my students to learn."

The Buckeye Education Foundation has pledged more than $10,000 in direct-to-teacher/staff project grants so far in the 2025-26 school year! We still have more funding to give. It's so easy to apply. If you are a BUSD teacher or staff with ideas to enhance the learning experience for your students that you can implement this school year, check out our grant process on our website.

These grants were made possible by generous donations of BUSD parents and community members, and we are so grateful for the support of all Buckeye students. We are Buckeye!

Need some books to get you through Winter Break? Stop by the El Dorado Hills Library (closed December 25 & 26), and be sure to admire the Buckeye Education Foundation Art Showcase Honorees on display in the lobby, now through the end of the year! Honorees were also invited to present their artwork at the last District Board of Trustees meeting and receive their certificate in person.

If you miss the display at the library, the display will move to the BUSD District Office in January.

All the fabulous submissions can be viewed online!

📣ANNOUNCING... POETRY SHOWCASE HONORS 🏆
More than 100 BUSD students in TK-8th grade submitted poetry to our 5th Annual Poetry Showcase. The theme this year was "Going Places", and all these young poets put their special spin on interpreting that theme. We are so proud of every BUSD poet who participated!

Thank you again to our esteemed judges who gave hours of their time to thoughtfully and fairly score each submitted poem. Thank you as well as to our sponsors. Without our generous sponsors, we would not be able to offer community-boosting events like this one.

Reminder: Buckeye Education Foundation's Poetry Showcase is accepting entries through Wednesday, April 30!

All students in the Buckeye Union School District are invited to participate. Our theme is "Going Places". All students in grades TK through 8th attending any Buckeye Union School District School are invited to enter this free virtual showcase event.

What does Going Places mean to you? We invite you to write about a place you’ve been, a place you want to go, near or far, real or imagined, literal or metaphorical. You could write about the journey, or about the destination. You can even write about packing for the trip. You might want to write about the place, or the experience or feelings you had or hope to feel there.
