Talking to children about online safety can feel scary, but silence doesn’t keep them safer. With June’s Internet Safety Month just ahead, this is a meaningful time to prepare for the conversations our kids need.

What is human trafficking?

It happens when someone uses force, fraud, or coercion to exploit another person for labor or commercial s*x.

One of the biggest myths is that trafficking always involves kidnapping or crossing borders. In reality, it often begins with manipulation, false promises, coercion, debt, or a relationship that turns controlling. It can happen in everyday places, including homes, hotels, farms, restaurants, and online.

Virginia leaders are uniting for National Foster Care Month to better support youth in foster care, caregivers, and the professionals who walk alongside them. Licensed foster parents can now earn five annual training hours through self-paced modules as part of this growing effort.
