Every 2-3 weeks, Christine struggles to find a volunteer(s) to drive to Houston (610/290) and to Burleson. Some of our volunteers are not comfortable with long-distance driving; others don’t have a large enough vehicle if there are multiple dogs going.

Friday 3/20, to Houston, departing Wharton at 8:30 am - 1 large dog, 1 medium dog, 2 sets of pups.

Saturday 3/28, to Burleson, time TBD. Not sure about which dogs yet.

Friday 4/10, to Houston, departing Wharton at 8:30 am - dogs TBD.

And, with price of gas so high, we will cover that cost.

Welcome to SPOT ! 🎉 Thanks to the dogged persistence of Melanie Cochrum, four pups that were being given away for free are now in SPOT. Also thanks to Melanie, Grace, Case and Melanie’s nephew, they’re all bathed, received Capstar for severe fleas, and started deworming. Monday they head to the vet for an exam and vaccinations.

While they’re safe for the weekend, they need FOSTERS starting Monday. If you follow our page, you know we’ve taken in at least 15 puppies/dogs in a week. 😢 As a foster-based rescue, there is no “place” to put rescues other than at a foster home.

To foster this rescue or any other SPOT pet, please complete our foster application at https://wcspot.org/get-involved/become-a-foster-family/.

📌For more information or adoption application, please email [email protected].

Welcome to SPOT ! 🎉 Rescued by Barry Balthrop while they were running through a field, they’re now safe in SPOT.

Many thanks to Barry and Kelly Balthrop for helping sponsor their vet expenses and Coastal Plains for boarding them at no charge this week while Christine is out-of-town.

Ready to add an adorable pup to your family? They’re 10 weeks old, had their first vaccinations, and started worming and HeartGard-NexGard. Email [email protected] for adoption information.

Happy Gotcha Day ! 🎉 After 4️⃣8️⃣4️⃣ days in our care, Bell has found her forever family! 🥳 One of Kim Hinze’s dogs passed away and the other, Bailey, was missing having a buddy. Kim’s sister, Renee Norton, was fostering Bell as part of our foster swap program. So Bell moved to Kim’s house as a foster-to-adopt dog and showed she was good fit for her family!

Bell was one of the pups who came into SPOT on 11/14/24. They were born to an unfixed stray. Fortunately the homeowner contacted SPOT and Joe King went to assess the situation-and immediately picked up the pups and momma. Our vet said it was a good thing he did because the pups wouldn’t have made it through the weekend.😢

Thank you to everyone who helped care for Bell, especially Joe King and Trish Winkles, Peggy Todd and Pierce Ranch, Ryan and Michelle Kemp, and finally Bryan and Renee Norton! 😇 It’s heartbreaking when a puppy grows up in our care so we are glad she doesn’t have to move anymore.

Reintroducing the ! 🎉What a transformation these four have made in four weeks! 😍 This is due to the intervention of the John and Elys Matula -- John rescued the sickly puppies from a county road about 2/3/26, and they paid for their boarding and vet expenses for two weeks while the pups were treated for sarcoptic mange.

Once released, we discovered that the pups were now suffering from ringworm, requiring additional lime dips and 21 days of Terbinafine. Don't they look great now! 🥳

The Matulas have been terrific and figured out how to make this work since we are still short of fosters. These pups are now 14 weeks old, about 15 lbs. each, and ready for forever families! Email [email protected] for an adoption application and information.

Thank you also to Susan Jochec, Cynthia Orsak and Caroline Tovar that helped get the puppies to Coastal Plains Animal Clinic from East Bernard and back for ringworm treatment. And to Casey Craig, Elated Photography, for their "after" photos!👏

📌The pups need new fosters starting March 19 as the Matulas have another commitment.
