The countdown to NH Gives is on!

As we head into summer, we are reminded of just how fortunate we are to live in a region defined by clean water. This short video highlights one of our most important natural resources—the Ossipee Aquifer, a vast underground water source that provides clean drinking water to thousands of residents and supports the health of our rivers, lakes, wetlands, and local economy.

NH Gives takes place June 9–10 and is New Hampshire's largest annual day of giving. During this special fundraising event, donations can help nonprofits unlock bonus funds, incentives, and prizes, making your gift go even further.

If you'd like to support Green Mountain Conservation Group's work to protect water quality, conserve natural resources, and educate future generations, please visit our NH Gives page and consider making a donation during the giving period.

Most importantly, thank you to our volunteers, supporters, partners, and community advocates. Your dedication makes this work possible year after year.

Happy summer, and thank you for helping protect the Upper S**o and Ossipee Watersheds for generations to come.

Stop by the kiosk on your next visit to the Pine River Boat Launch in Ossipee!

GMCG has reinstalled our educational poster highlighting respectful recreation practices and stewardship of the Ossipee Lake Natural Area. This special place is home to rare plants, unique habitats, and sensitive natural communities that make it one of New Hampshire's ecological treasures.

Learn more about the Ossipee Natural Area here: https://www.ossipeelake.org/discover/ossipee-lake-natural-area/

Visitors are reminded that recreation is permitted only within the designated recreation area, as required by law. Staying within these areas helps protect fragile habitats and the species that depend on them.

Take a moment to read the kiosk information and learn how you can help preserve this remarkable natural area through responsible recreation. Whether you're boating, paddling, fishing, or simply enjoying the shoreline, your actions make a difference.

As summer arrives and boat traffic increases across New Hampshire's lakes, it's also more important than ever to help prevent the spread of invasive aquatic species. Before launching and after leaving the water, please inspect your boat, trailer, and equipment for milfoil and other invasive plants.

Thank you for helping protect the Ossipee Lake Natural Area for future generations. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable boating season!

Together, we care for the lands and waters that make the Upper S**o and Ossipee Watersheds such special places to live, learn, and explore.

This year, NH Gives returns June 9–10, bringing communities across New Hampshire together for the state’s largest day of giving. Green Mountain Conservation Group is proud to partner with the Upper S**o Valley Land Trust and Tin Mountain Conservation Center to celebrate and support the conservation, education, and stewardship work happening throughout Carroll County and across the Upper S**o and Ossipee Watersheds.

From protecting forests, wetlands, rivers, and wildlife habitat to connecting people of all ages with the natural world, our organizations work year-round to strengthen the health and resilience of our communities.

Beginning at 5 PM on June 9 through 5 PM on June 10, we invite you to support local nonprofits, and help amplify the impact of conservation and environmental education in New Hampshire.

Every gift — of any size — helps keep this work moving forward. Thank you for being part of this community.

Help GMCG Maximize NH Gives Impact!

Dear Friends,

From June 9 at 5:00 PM through June 10 at 5:00 PM, GMCG will participate in NH Gives — New Hampshire’s largest statewide day of giving. Your donation during this 24-hour campaign can go even further through matching opportunities, incentive prizes, and increased visibility that help strengthen the impact of every gift.

At GMCG, our mission is to protect the lakes, rivers and groundwater of the greater Ossipee Watershed, its aquifer, land, and associated natural resources to ensure prosperous communities and a healthy ecosystem for all. From water-quality monitoring and watershed science to protecting critical lands that recharge groundwater and sustain wildlife habitat, our work is rooted in the understanding that healthy ecosystems and clean water are inseparable. Your support during NH Gives helps ensure these extraordinary waters continue to nourish communities, ecosystems, and future generations.

Protecting clean water across all seven communities of the Ossipee Watershed.

Thank you for standing with GMCG and helping protect the waters that connect us all.

GMCG Education Coordinator Tara and AmeriCorps member Rose helped the preschoolers plant the pollinator, herb and veggie gardens yesterday at Children Unlimited. This is a project we do every year, along with providing programs about pollinators to some very enthusiastic kids! The kids get to care for the garden throughout the summer and enjoy the fresh fruits, veggies and herbs to eat.

The watershed community enjoyed a live performance of the gorgeous, hand-painted celebration of the pollinators we need for our survival, and the plants they need for theirs. The Pollinator Crankie reveal was held on Friday, May 22 at Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth. A crankie is a long scroll of images that gets rolled up and shown frame by frame, sort of like a movie. Crankies, called panoramas in the 19th century when they were super popular, are an early form of moving picture.

Thank you to all of the artists who collaborated on this community project, and all of the partners who helped to make it happen...Appalachian Mountain Club, Green Mountain Conservation Group, Cook Memorial Library, Chocorua Lake Conservancy, Mountains to the Sea writers’ group, and Yeoman’s Fund for the Arts.

Stay tuned for the recording on YouTube!
