International Hospitality Program at SIUE

IHP offers friendship and a cultural exchange. Students do not live with the hosts in this program. Host Families

The IHP consists of about 50 host families.

These families each, in their own way, connect with an international student, (or 2,or 3, or…). These connections are mutually rewarding, both the student and the family learn and grow from the experience. The host families are the engine of the program, providing the volunteer services, food and support for our various events and activities. International Students

The international students come

to SIUe from around the globe. About 200 students arrive each year. They are bright, enthusiastic scholars reaching out from their homeland on a journey to learn about the world.

As we de-clutter this spring/summer, IHP is looking for the following items for welcome boxes.

The welcome boxes are for incoming/new arrival international students. In these boxes we place the following items:

● plates (4)
● cups (4)
● bowls (4)
● flatware (4 settings)
● serving/cooking utensils
● cooking pot
● medium frying pan
● bath towels (2)
● kitchen towel (2)
● twin sheet set
● blanket
● pillow

If you are able to assemble a box independently, we would be most grateful. If you have items to donate toward a box we are also grateful.

We don't need random water bottles.

We always have special requests for the following items:

● Microwaves
● rice cookers
● irons
● blenders
● small student desks
● small kitchen table and chairs

Students arrive in August. It would be great to have a couple boxes ready by then.

Hello Community

We have a speaker series with our sister organization the International Women's Organization (IWO).

Our speaker for March is Haram Kamran, from Pakistan.

We would love to have you attend. All are welcome.

Calling all hands on deck!

The International Hospitality Program at SIUE will be assembling Welcome Bags for the incoming International Students on Monday July 29th in the Student Success Center at 6pm.

We would be happy to have any volunteers help us assemble these bags. If we have enough people, it usually goes pretty quickly.
