Dinners For Kids

Fighting childhood hunger by preparing and distributing healthy meals to local children. Founded by David Tevet, Owner, Ollies Restaurant.

More then 1 in 4 children in the United States do not receive nutritious food on a consistent basis. In Luzerne County, more then 10,500 children are food insecure. Children who lack a nutritionally balanced diet are more likely to exhibit behavior problems, poor school performance, and impaired cognitive development.

Behind every meal delivered is a group of volunteers making it happen! 🙌

Three times each week, dedicated volunteers come together to pack meals that will be delivered directly to children across NEPA. Each bag is prepared with care, helping ensure children in our program have access to nutritious dinners they can count on.

Volunteer drivers play an important role in helping us serve children across NEPA! 💛

Dinners for Kids is looking for volunteer delivery drivers to help ensure children across NEPA receive the meals they are counting on. Drivers pick up meals from Ollie's American Restaurant after 2:30 PM every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and deliver directly to children’s homes.

Whether you can help once a month or more regularly, every route covered makes a difference for a child in our community. Interested in volunteering? Email [email protected] to get started!

These moments may look simple, but each packed bag represents time, compassion, and a commitment to making sure children in our community have dinner to count on. This year, Dinners for Kids is celebrating 15 years of serving children and families across Northeastern Pennsylvania through the power of volunteers and community support. 💚

What started as a small grassroots effort has grown into a mission that now provides 75,000 meals annually to children facing food insecurity, all while remaining 100% volunteer-run.

To celebrate this incredible milestone, we’ll be making our Annual Dinner this November extra special as we reflect on 15 years of impact and the people who have helped make it possible. Stay tuned, more details will be released soon. ✨
