🌟 Elevar Graduate Spotlight: Herry Fuentes 🌟

We love celebrating the incredible work our Elevar entrepreneurs are doing in the community and beyond. Recently, Elevar graduate Herry Fuentes worked as a shooting producer through 1% for the Planet’s partnership with Content With Purpose and HEST Outdoors during HESTIVAL — an event dedicated to protecting America’s public lands. 🌎🎥

Through this experience, Herry collaborated with mission-driven leaders and storytellers committed to environmental sustainability, ethical production, and social impact. From learning more about public lands advocacy with The Conservation Alliance to supporting brands that pledge 1% of sales toward environmental organizations, this project reflects the power of purpose-driven entrepreneurship.

Herry shared how inspiring it was to work alongside organizations that hold themselves accountable to both creativity and community impact — values that deeply align with the spirit of Elevar.

We are proud to see our graduates using storytelling, creativity, and leadership to make a difference far beyond Eagle County. Congratulations, Herry! 👏✨

¡Felicidades, Herry! 👏✨

🫜 From seed to sustenance, the Garden of Goodness is more than soil and sunlight—it’s shared purpose taking root.

🤝🏽Through a powerful collaboration between The Community Market, Walking Mountains and Brush Creek Elementary School, rows of growing food become something greater than a harvest—they become hope.

👌🏾Here, students, educators, and community partners cultivate more than vegetables. They cultivate dignity, connection, and care. Every planted seed carries a shared promise: that fresh, nourishing food belongs on every table in our community.

🫶🏾 In this garden, collaboration is the real crop—and together, we’re growing goodness strong enough to nourish neighbors in need.

🍎 Food access is about more than putting groceries on the table — it’s about empowering families with the knowledge and confidence to turn healthy ingredients into nourishing meals.

🌿 At Eagle Valley Community Foundation, our "What We’ve Got Wednesday" initiative through The Community Market bridges the gap between food access and nutrition education by sharing simple, affordable recipes inspired by ingredients commonly available at the Market. By helping families make the most of fresh, nutritious foods (oftentimes local), we’re supporting healthier lifestyles, reducing food waste, and strengthening food security across Eagle County.

🌿 At Eagle Valley Community Foundation (EVCF), we recognize that advancing food security requires innovative, sustainable solutions that address immediate needs while strengthening long-term community resilience. That commitment recently brought Executive Director Melina Valsecia and leaders from The Community Market to the ReFED Conference, one of the nation’s foremost convenings focused on food waste reduction and building a more equitable, efficient food system.

♻️ The insights and conversations at ReFED reinforced a critical truth: food waste and food insecurity are interconnected challenges that demand collaborative, systems-based solutions. Meaningful progress depends on innovation, cross-sector partnerships, and a shared commitment to maximizing the value of our food resources.

🍎 With EVCF's food assistance program The Community Market, this work is already in motion. Through strategic partnerships with food donors, retailers, growers, volunteers, and community organizations, thousands of pounds of high-quality food are recovered and redistributed each year—diverting nutritious food from landfills while expanding access for local families and individuals.

💡 The ideas and connections gained through ReFED strengthen our commitment to advancing practical, community-driven solutions that ensure good food fulfills its highest purpose: feeding people.

🛑 Less food wasted. 🟢 More neighbors nourished. 💛 A stronger community for all.

🪻Every May, Women’s Health Month invites us to reflect on a fundamental truth: the health of women is inseparable from the health of families, communities, and entire local systems.

🚨It is both a public health observance and a call to action—reminding us that equitable access to care, nutrition, and preventive services is not simply a personal matter, but a collective responsibility.

🌿 At Eagle Valley Community Foundation, we see every day how barriers like transportation, language access, insurance gaps, and limited appointment availability can stand in the way of prevention and early care.

⚕🍎 Through our programs MIRA (Mobile Intercultural Resource Alliance) and The Community Market, we work to close these gaps by bringing food access, health navigation, screenings, and trusted bilingual support directly into the community.

🔗 We invite you to read more about how community-based care and access will continue to strengthen women’s health across Eagle County well beyond this May:

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation — individuals whose courage and sacrifice helped preserve the freedoms, opportunities, and sense of community we hold dear today.

At Eagle Valley Community Foundation, we recognize that remembrance is not only an act of reflection, but also a responsibility. It calls us to care more deeply for one another, to strengthen the fabric of our communities, and to ensure that dignity, hope, and opportunity remain accessible to all.

That spirit lives through the work of our programs every day:
🍎 The Community Market reminds us that no neighbor should face hunger alone.
🤝 MIRA demonstrates the power of human connection, outreach, and compassionate support.
🎓 Elevar reflects the enduring belief that education and opportunity can transform generations.

Each program, in its own way, carries forward the ideals of service, sacrifice, and collective responsibility that Memorial Day asks us to remember.

Today, we honor those who gave everything — not only with gratitude, but with continued commitment to building a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate Eagle Valley for all. ❤️🤍💙

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Eagle Valley Community Foundation, we believe mental health care should be accessible, compassionate, and rooted in community.

Through MIRA Esperanza, community members can access up to 6 free therapy sessions with bilingual mental health providers offering a wide range of specialties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, family support, grief, stress management, and more. Services are offered directly within the community, helping reduce barriers like transportation, language access, stigma, and cost.

For many individuals and families, especially within our Spanish-speaking community, finding trusted and culturally responsive mental health support can feel overwhelming. MIRA Esperanza was created to meet people where they are — with dignity, care, and connection.

This important work is made possible through the support of The Colorado Trust, whose investment in community-driven health equity is helping expand access to mental health services across Eagle County.

Mental health is community health, and together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community for all.
