What a night! Congrats to all the ACE Eastside students! Four teams presented their community market designs in meeting rooms at Microsoft last night, impressing everyone in the audience with their thoughtful architecture, innovative engineering, and organized construction plans. Way to go! It was an amazing year - let's do it again in the fall! Thank you for the meeting space and for the cookies!

About last night.... Tacoma you are amazing. Standing-room only crowd at for the two Tacoma teams to present their community market designs. It's hard to believe the ACE year is coming to a close! Check out the Wednesday Seattle Team 2 hard at work on their site anaylsis efforts earlier this year. Huge site maps, trace paper, colored pencils, research tools, and group discussions really helped the team dig into the site in preparation for their designs. We can't wait to see what you came up with this year! See you Monday in Tacoma, Tuesday in Redmond, and Wednesday in Seattle!

We visited the Tuesday Tacoma Team for their last meeting of the year yesterday, as they worked in their disciplines to finish up their designs and put together their final presentation. We've hit 10 years now serving the Tacoma area and it gets better every year! This is the first year we have two four-year ACE students in Tacoma - congrats to Ashley and Laniyah! Good luck with the final preparations, and we'll see you next week! .arch

ACE had a really cool experience last Friday when we got to attend a "topping out" celebration for the new Phase 1 expansion at Inglemoor High School in the Northshore School District. Several ACE mentors on the IHS project team went above and beyond to get the ACE Inglemoor students involved in their school's project. They learned all about the design, created the official topping out t-shirt, and got to attend the event and sign the beam! Experiences like this truly bring ACE to life for students, who now can see how the design industry works at their very own high school! Special thanks to Steve, architect at , who made it all happen!

Here we goooooooo!! Everyone welcome!

Attention ACE alumni! As of last week, the ACE Mentor Program National Alumni Scholarship application is open! We encourage you to apply before the deadline on May 15!

We wanted to spotlight our own Seattle alumni, Michael Birkhead, who was one of the recipients last year of the Charles Thornton Memorial Alumni Scholarship. A 2022 graduate of Bainbridge Island High School, Michael went to Montana State University and has since had several incredible opportunities in architecture, including an internship with Kohn Pederson Fox in New York City, where he was able to serve as an ACE mentor to NYC students!

Michael says, "ACE has done so much for me and students like myself, and I can’t wait to give back to the same program that opened the door to where I am now. Thank you for believing in students like me. This scholarship represents more than financial help — it’s motivation to keep working hard and to pay it forward. I’m honored to represent ACE and the values Charles Thornton built it on. Programs like ACE make it possible for students to grow, connect, and ultimately make an impact through design." Congrats Michael, keep designing!
