Next fall, Eckstein MS turns 75 years old!

They are having an Open House (complete with a visit from the Granddaughter of Nathan Eckstein) on Saturday, September 20th from 10-1? There will be an assembly of sorts, school tours, etc… They would love to see members of the community attend.

The post we’ve all been dreading: After 73 incredible years, our final day at Burgermaster University will be Sunday, February 23rd.

The outpouring of love and support over the past few weeks has meant the world to us. Seeing old friends return, hearing your favorite memories, and serving long-time customers one last time has been both heartwarming and bittersweet.

We hope you’ll join us in these final days to say goodbye, enjoy a meal, and celebrate the legacy of where it all began. Thank you, Seattle.

Teacher Grants

Golden Grads just sent out eleven letters of congratulations to the 2024-2025 recipients of our Teachers' Wish List grants, funding needed materials not provided by the district. We received fifteen requests in total and met with other support groups. Golden Grads will fund eleven, two will be funded by Athletic Boosters, one by PTSA, and one by the RHS Foundation. Golden Grads' share totaled slightly over $17,900, funded by membership dues, donations, and interest on our endowment funds.

Coach Chris Creighton Returns to Seattle

Going to the Husky game today, Sept. 7th? You may recognize the opposing team's head coach, Chris Creighton. The coach of the Eastern Michigan Eagles lived in Laurelhurst in the 1980s when his father was rector at St. Stephens. He graduated from Roosevelt in 1986 and earned first-team All-Metro League honors. He has had a stellar college coaching career. Former Roosevelt basketball coach Gregg Kalina coached Creighton in high school and will be on the sideline serving as the Eagles' honorary coach.

The Annual Golden Grads Luncheon is June 12th

Our luncheon at the Nile Country Club is our major event for Golden Grads members, and it is a great opportunity to get together with other alums. Class reunions are fun, but our luncheon connects you to both your class and friends from other years. You hear an update on the school, meet the principal and our scholarship winners, and enjoy a short performance by student singers, dancers, or musicians. Roosevelt football coach Sam Adams, a former first round draft pick for the Seattle Seahawks, will be a speaker. We chose the Nile, now called the Nile Shriners Center, because it has easy access off I-5; parking is abundant, free, and close; and there are no stairways to climb.
