One of the clearest signs that something isn’t from God isn’t always that it’s sinful, it may simply be that it constantly depends on your striving.
If you’re always the one chasing, convincing, fixing, manipulating, or trying to make something work, it may be worth asking: Did God begin this, or did I?
What begins with God is sustained by His grace.
What begins in obedience doesn’t need to be maintained by anxiety.
But what begins in our own strength often demands more of our strength to keep alive.
Sometimes we force relationships that God never asked us to pursue. We ignore red flags, compromise our convictions, and call it “fighting for love.”
Sometimes we force opportunities because they look successful, even though they slowly pull us away from the life God has called us to live.
Sometimes we force doors open, forgetting that if God truly opened them, we wouldn’t have to compromise our integrity just to stay inside.
This doesn’t mean that everything God calls you to will be easy. Following Jesus requires perseverance. Building a marriage, serving in ministry, growing a business, or walking in your calling all require faithfulness and endurance.
But there’s a difference between faithfully stewarding what God has given you and constantly striving to keep alive what He never asked you to carry.
God’s will may stretch your faith, but it will never require you to manipulate people, abandon your convictions, or replace dependence on Him with dependence on yourself.
Ask yourself today:
Am I walking by faith, or am I surviving by force?
If the only thing keeping it alive is your constant striving, maybe it’s time to surrender it back to God.
Because what God initiates, He is faithful to sustain. And if He is asking you to let go, trust that He knows how to provide something you won’t have to force.

God never asks you to sustain by striving what He intends to sustain by grace. Walk in obedience, trust His timing, and let Him carry what only He can.
