Swine Week began in 1986 when a small group of Edmond High School students decided to raise money for Robin Orendorff, the 11-year-old sister of a classmate who was in need of a kidney transplant. He agreed to allow it and even agreed to kiss a pig in front of the entire student body if they could raise $3,000. The boys were successful, the principal kissed that pig and Swine Week was officially b
orn. Flash forward 38 years and students have since brought in more than $8 million for charity! We strive to honor the legacy started in 1986 as well as the amazing efforts of thousands of Edmond Memorial students, we plan to involve as many students, parents, alumni, businesses and community members as possible.
