In life we are faced with many things that we must Rise Above. Addiction, depression, financial struggles - bankruptcy, disease and sickness, past mistakes we hav
e made, past wrongs that were done to us and wrongs we did to others, divorce and broken relationships, abusive relationships, death of family members and/or friends and the list goes on. The only recipe for success in life is to Rise Above these things. Easier said than done one might say, but it can be accomplished. With God’s mercy, grace and strength we can Rise Above anything life throws at us. God’s mercies renew every day and as long as we are looking to Him for our strength there is nothing that we cannot Rise Above and Overcome. My most recent battle was an alcohol addiction. A struggle that was certainly not an easy path, full of many failures, mistakes. Consequences seemed to be piling up faster than I could keep up with and this only made me want to drink even more, causing more and more mistakes, failures and losses. A vicious cycle that seemed like I would never Rise Above and overcome. Walls were closing in quickly in my life and I was faced with a simple decision, give in and accept defeat or stand up and fight with every ounce of energy I could muster. Surrender everything in my life to God and release control to Him. It was obvious my strength was not getting the job done and only making matters worse. My back was against the wall with nowhere to go but to God. Raised in church and attended church my whole life, worked in ministry, helped others, succeeded in business and seen God work in my life in a wonderful way but when life took a turn and the attacks of the enemy started piling up I dove into a bottle instead of turning to God. I tried to control my circumstances on my own, with my own strength and knowledge and I failed miserably. It has been a long battle for me and I did much damage in all areas of my life but by the grace of God he carried me through it all and brought me to a point of total surrender. A very painful process but a beautiful one! God’s mercies carried me, and continue to carry me, each and every day through this process and I am so thankful for that. I am thankful that God will allow us, while never leaving us, to be broken so that He may do a miraculous work in our lives. Together we can Rise Above. Gaining strength and encouragement from one another. Our experiences and our successes can encourage others to stand their ground and not give up the fight with whatever they may be facing. Please share your experiences, the success and failures. It is in the failures and mistakes that we gain wisdom by the grace of God. Many of us need to know we are not alone in our struggles and the demons we fight in our minds and in our bodies - the attacks from satan in our lives. Many have traveled down the same path that we may be traveling, or have traveled, and have overcame - there is much encouragement to be gained from one another if we are willing to share those experiences. This page was designed for that sharing and to gain strength and encouragement from others.
