June is National Aphasia Awareness Month!

Aphasia is an acquired communication disorder that can affect a person’s ability to speak, understand, read, or write. However, it does not impact intelligence. It’s most commonly caused by stroke or brain injury, and can also result from neurodegenerative diseases.

More than 2 million Americans are living with aphasia. 10,000 Oklahomans are impacted. Yet many people have never heard of it.

Let’s change that. Help increase understanding, reduce stigma, and promote communication access. Help us spread awareness and support families by sharing this Oklahoma Proclamation.
