We will be taking up item donations between February 1st through the 14th. We will distribute what we can directly to those on the streets, and take the rest to the Homeless Alliance shelter, as they do not require the homeless to show ID.

The past two days, we have seen nearly 300 people and their pets seeking refuge in our Day Shelter during the day. To help meet the need of additional overflow beds, we opened our Day Shelter as a temporary emergency night shelter on Sunday and will remain open 24 hrs/day through Thursday evening. All people and pets are welcome, and no ID is required.

Winter overflow beds are also available overnight at The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command, City Care, and City Rescue Mission on any night predicted to drop below 32 degrees. Transportation is currently being provided between the overflow night shelters and our day shelter in the morning and evening at no cost by Embark. You can find addresses and more information about these overflow beds on our story graphic.

With these cold temperatures come an increased need for in-kind donations to keep our neighbors warm. If you would like to help, we very much need the following items to distribute to people:
• Men’s jeans and sweatpants*
• Adult-size shoes (sneakers & work boots only, no dress shoes)*
• Men’s & women’s underwear (new only)*
• Hand warmers*
• Gender neutral gloves*
• Warm blankets & sleeping bags
• Winter coats & rain ponchos (men’s size L & up)
*Indicates current greatest need. No other clothing at this time, please.

Donations can be delivered to our campus located on the corner of N.W. 3rd and Virginia (one block east of Penn on N.W. 3rd) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. We were able to hand out sleeping bags, gloves, handwarmers, and hamburgers today, while also providing firewood for a camp. Thankful for the opportunity to serve!

[email protected] and we will set something up. We have crazy work schedules, so the weekend (Sat-Sun) is usually the best time to arrange a drop off.

We currently need clothing or shoes in like NEW condition (adult sized).

Today we begin a new journey; a mission. To provide and meet the needs of the homeless in our community. We are small, but we think big. To start out, we will focus our attention to clothing and footwear. If you or anyone you know has adult shoes and/or clothing in NEW condition, please reach out to us at the e-mail or phone number provided.

Why the name Barabbas?

Barabbas (translated: Son of The Father) was a rebel, and a criminal, who was sentenced to death by the Roman Empire. However, prior to his ex*****on by crucifixion, his place on the cross was taken by Jesus Christ. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8).

In this life, we are all Barabbas. We are all sinners. But we were set free by the love of The Father. In this, we choose to take that gift and spread His love through the works of our community outreach, and provide to those in need.

We are Barabbas.
