Thanks to your generosity, Brutus was set free this morning with his humans by his side and a Puppucinno in his belly. A wonderful woman saved this old soul and this incredible community returned her kindness. Thank you! Rest easy, Brutus.🌈

UPDATE: In just 3 hours we received donations covering the full amount plus fuel costs. Fundraiser button has been removed. Thank you for the shares, likes and donations. Because of your compassion and generosity, Brutus will have the ending they all deserve!

This precious old man is Brutus and his time with his beloved humans is running out.

Saved from being dumped at the shelter by his previous owner, a single mom stepped up to love him for his remaining days. Today, we offered to return her kindness and cover the cost of his euthanasia and cremation. Brutus deserves to feel their touch and hear their voices in his final moments.

Bella SPCA Non-Profit Veterinary Hospital has quoted me $225 and I am also hoping to assist her with costs of fuel for the one hour trip. Any amount is appreciated. ♥️

Today on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, I reflect on all the paws I’ve held and heads I’ve kissed in their final moments. It is always a gift.🌈

If it looks like Roxy’s begging, she is, actually we both are.

When I was contacted about helping with this situation, I had no idea what I was walking into. And when this smiley girl met me at the gate, I wasn’t about to leave her behind…

an unvaccinated, unaltered, middle aged, heartworm positive, mix breed. If I’m being honest, this isn’t the kind of dog most rescues are jumping to save and not exactly the kind people are begging to adopt.

But I am in love with this ‘desperate to please’ girl who paws for affection and rolls over for belly rubs and I just know someone else will be too.

Because of her HW status, we approached her spay surgery with caution by doing x-rays beforehand. This invoice is today’s visit only. Her heartworm treatment will cost an additional $700-800.

If any of you would like to meet Roxy, please message me. If you know someone looking for a wonderful companion, please tag them on one of my Roxy posts. Her heartworm is treatable (and was preventable!) because we caught it in the early stages. She is expected to live a wonderful and healthy life. Getting her there will be costly, but worth it.

💚 Tax deductible donations can be made through Facebook or Venmo. Donations can also be made directly to Great Plains Vet in Arcadia.

I humbly come here asking for help with initial vetting costs for the three companion animals I’ve taken into my care while I seek transport or rescue commitment.

Knowing when our own mental and physical capacities restrict us, asking for help when we’re overwhelmed, being vulnerable enough to risk judgement, and loving so big you’re willing to say goodbye. That isn’t weakness, it’s strength.

These animals were lucky to have her, now it’s our turn to spread some kindness and compassion. Won’t you join me? If you feel inclined and able to donate, it is greatly appreciated, but so are prayers and good vibes for a special old lady who has made her little corner of the world a better place, despite her circumstances.

Honoring the 100th birthday of Betty White with my favorite picture of her namesake, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge just two weeks prior to Betty White’s death. 🎂

I saw you cradled in his arms, wrapped in a soft blanket. I knew why he was in line. I watched him hand your crippled body to an incredibly kind shelter employee. Then I ran to his car and offered assistance. His tears bridged the gap between our two different languages. Because love and grief are universal.

I told you how much he loved you as I held your paw, and secretly hoped you would meet me there too. Rest easy, Chikis. 🌈

* Please no negativity toward her human or the shelter. This post is to honor Chikis and highlight the need for resources for people and their companion animals.

UPDATE: Chikis’ vet bill has been covered by a fellow senior dog loving rescuer. ♥️

All the little dogs spirits were crossing the rainbow bridge when one of them looked back and saw some dog’s souls laying on the other side of the bridge, not moving.
“Who are they” he asked the dog next to him.
“Oh don’t you know they are the souls who had no owner in life and knew no love like we did”.
“So what are they laying there for” he asked “why don’t they cross over like us”.
“They can’t” replied his new friend “only pets with owners can cross”.
Just then all the souls on the other side of the bridge sat up and looked down the road.
What’s happening asked the little dog. “Watch” replied his friend.
Whereupon a woman was seen walking towards the bridge. She looked to her left and then to her right
opened her arms wide and all the patiently waiting souls got up and went to her.
She knelt and touched each and every spirit in turn.
They then all proceeded to cross the bridge together.
“Who is that” he asked his friend.
“That is someone special” replied his friend.. “She is a rescuer” .
