Police Officer Hiring Announcement:

The Berlin Police Department is initiating the hiring process for the position of Full Time Police Officer until April 10th, 2026.

The department is seeking to hire individuals who are currently looking to obtain a New Jersey Police Training Commission (NJPTC), Basic Certification for Police Officers, or those who are already employed or certified as a Police Officer in New Jersey with a BCPO or SLEO II certification.

The Berlin Police Department currently has 20 sworn full-time officers, five part-time officers and 1 civilian employee that include: Detectives, Police K-9, Special Response Team Members (SRT), Law Enforcement Against Drugs Instructors (LEAD) and School Resource Officers (SRO) and Field Training Officers (FTO) to name a few.

The Berlin Police Department will be accepting applications through the Police App website, online only.

Minimum Requirements to Apply:

1. Is 18 years of age or older;
2. Is a citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey at the time of appointment;
3. Is sound in body and of good health sufficient to satisfy the board of trustees of the police and firemen’s retirement system of New Jersey as to his/her eligibility for membership in the retirement system;
4. Can read, write, and speak the English language well and intelligently;
5. Is of good moral character and has not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude;
6. Is a graduate of high school or the holder of a general educational development diploma;
7. If served in the military, did not receive a dishonorable discharge;
8. Meets all eligibility requirements set forth in N.J.S.A. 40:A14-122, N.J.S.A. 52:17B.71b and N.J.A.C. 13:1-10.2.
9. The Appropriate Authority may require additional educational and certification requirements to be eligible for application and consideration.

Candidates must also submit to and pass the following:

1. Physical Conditioning, Written, and Oral Panel Testing

2. Background Investigation

3. Physical Examination

4. Psychological Examination

5. Drug Screening

6. PTC Certified Police Academy

Residents of the Borough of Berlin are encouraged to apply.

What an incredible day! On Wednesday, December 17th, the NJAALEOA family came together for our annual Heroes and Helpers event at Target in Edison, NJ. Our local heroes first responders, community leaders, and volunteers – teamed up with children and families in need to spread some holiday cheer by shopping for gifts and making memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in this heartwarming event. Your generosity, time, and kindness truly made a difference in the lives of so many families in our community. 🙌❤️
