Helping Haiti: Creating new and better educational opportunities

Our strongest most capable teams have been working in Haiti tirelessly, providing a healthy start, a strong foundation, and the opportunity to learn and protection from harm – every day and in times of crisis. In the country’s darkest hours after the devastating earthquake, our emergency responders were on the ground – saving lives, feeding families and keeping children safe.

Backed by the generosity of you, our donors, our caring staff and partners have reached multiple Haitian children and adults through 2010 earthquake relief and recovery programs. We have sheltered families; provided access to lifesaving health and water and sanitary services; have helped protect children from exploitation; and have helped re-open schools and make them better able to withstand disasters. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we were able to partake in the interest of the affected people in 2016 through advocacy, reinforcement of key government social services, and community-based programs in Child Protection, Education, Health, Food Security, Livelihoods, and Humanitarian Relief. Some of our initiatives included providing multiple schools chlorine to disinfect drinking water to combat the ongoing cholera epidemic in Haiti, increasing the number of teens tested for HIV by 100% and helping open up educational institutions to better educate young which was funded by sponsors from all over the globe.

Since we have started working in Haiti we have worked with local communities and organizations to design Sponsorship programs for kids. The target would here be to help children from early childhood and through it all into adulthood which we can understand is the toughest part of raising children but the most important thing about this is that despite the challenge there are many children who are blessed with a family that would take care of them albeit not in their original homes but definitely would care for them like their own. It’s not easy and it is by far one of the toughest things a person can take upon themselves.

Focused on that challenging transition between childhood and adulthood, the skilled professionals and multiple volunteers help make sure the journey and the transition are both positive and are not at this point incentivized by the money they receive. Rather teaching them money, job and relationship skills to better help them navigate through life and become successful people in the end. Thanks to the generous support from our community of sponsors.

These are merely means to suggest you come up with your mix of how you can help from coming there in person to sending your benefactor a gift. There are thousands of cases where a person had adopted a child simply because no human deserves to live through this and the children would be at a developmental phase where such things can leave long lasting impacts.
