well $500 from jersey relief would help out our family alot financially because money keeps going out and no insurance money coming in
FAMILY #3
I recently moved back in my moms house so I could go back to school full time and save for my wedding in May. I lived at the house with my mom, fiancé, brother, and our three dogs. The night of the storm 3 feet of water came rushing in. We grabbed the dogs and some clothes and ran into the attic where we spent the night. My mother works extremely hard as a custodian. She also takes care of my grandmother that has Alzheimer's disease. We do have insurance but are in a battle because the contractor thinks we need to knock the house down, while the insurance does not agree. I am now staying with my in laws while my mother sleeps on my sisters couch. She will be getting a small apartment while the house may or may not be rebuilt. This money would help her get some furniture like a bed or couch. She is always helping others and I would love to help her at this horrible time.
Buying some furniture or paying bills for my mothers apartment would be a great way to spend the money. Or even doing some grocery shopping for my mother. Anything that would help us in any way really would be appreciated
FAMILY #4
We are a family of five staying with friends and family. We have three kids, we had what we thought was little damage, but our town red tagged our home any way, at that point the landlord washed his hands since the house is for sale and refuses to have it inspected because he doesn't want to pay. We lost our van, and have to borrow my father in laws. We have son who was 1lb 2oz at birth and who is on oxygen, and has a G-Tube to eat. He has several specialists, and it is hard to get him to the doctors witout a van that can seat all three children.
We need help to get a car FEMA denied us, not sure why but they did, we are fighting it but we need a car for now even if it is a rental.
FAMILY #5
We had 5 ft of water in a one level home. Lost all even two vechiles that were moved to higher ground. No flood insurance. Do have a FEMA number. Doing all repair work on our own. We are in our late 50's. I was a real estate agent but do not have current income. Business was based out of home and lost all documentation. Currently waiting for an electrican and plummer. Once that is complete can start sheet rock. Financial situation is terrible like so many others. Positive thinking if we can afford supplies is to be back in the home by mid Feb.
We really need help with supplies and also affording our heating bill. Beacuse there was no insulation in the home the heating bill was high. Supplies for rebuilding in a huge factor. Our main goal is to get back into our home and also to be able to afford some of the bills we have at this time that have proven to be a challenge to stay on top of. Thank you for all you are doing. We are so grateful!!
