Texas is a two-plate state, meaning that youโ€™re legally required to have both a front and rear license plate on your car. If you donโ€™t, you risk getting pulled over and paying a fine. Thereโ€™s no way to get around needing a front license plate, so make sure you take care of it and attach your front license plate before driving. Otherwise, youโ€™re needlessly risking getting in trouble!

Edinburg Police Investigate Hit & Run Crash

Edinburg police responded to a hit-and-run crash in the northbound lanes of the 5300 block of South Expressway 281 just after 6 am on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a white Ford Expedition on its side. They also saw that the 30-year-old female driver had been ejected from her vehicle.

Through the investigation, officers learned that the driver of the Ford Expedition was attempting to change lanes when she collided with a white construction pick-up truck towing a black trailer. The collision caused the Ford Expedition to strike the concrete barrier and then flip on its side. The female driver was not wearing a seatbelt. She was transported to DHR to be treated for her injuries.

The other driver left the scene of the crash. Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the driver of the white construction pick-up truck towing a black trailer with cones in the back.

The crash is under investigation. Anyone with information on this incident is being urged to call Edinburg Police at (956) 289-7700.
Or the Edinburg Crime Stoppers at 956-383-TIPS

Space Heater Safety Tips:

1.Inspect immediately
Always inspect a heater before you use it. Make sure there are no cracked or broken plugs or loose connections. Replace broken parts or the heater itself before use or get a new one.

2.Not too close
Most home heating deaths happened because a space heater was too close to furniture, clothing, mattresses, or bedding. Make sure your heater is at least three feet from anything that can burn.

3.Outlets only
Always plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet. Donโ€™t use extension cords or power strips. And donโ€™t run the cord under a rug or carpet.

4.Kids and pets
Children and pets can knock over a space heater or get too close and burn themselves. Donโ€™t put space heaters in hallways or other places kids or pets might pass by. And donโ€™t let kids move a heater or adjust the controls.

5.No liquids nearby
Never use or store flammable liquids in the same room as a space heater. And because theyโ€™re electric, donโ€™t get near a heater when youโ€™re wet.

6.Turn it off
Always turn off your space heaters before you leave the room or go to bed. Look for models that shut off automatically when tipped over.

Share the road!!
Bicycles on the road are, by law, vehicles with the same rights as motor vehicles. Itโ€™s the responsibility of both the rider and driver to share the road.

Hereโ€™s a few ways to protect those using pedal power.

Be patient. If the lane is too narrow, if thereโ€™s oncoming traffic, or if you donโ€™t have enough visibility to passโ€ฆdonโ€™t.

Reduce your speed when approaching a bicycle. Even if thereโ€™s a bike lane, an opening car door, for example, may cause the rider to swerve into traffic.
Donโ€™t honk. You could startle the rider.

Make eye contact and, if you make a mistake, everyone loves a courtesy wave.

Be extra cautious of children. They can be even more unpredictable and less aware of the dangers around them.
