A Crossbow, A Pitchfork, and Antifreeze To Use On Cats?
🚨VIDEO IN COMMENTS🚨
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania - A cat is at the center of a disturbing situation after a a Facebook user known as "Dan Giel" allegedly warned neighbors to lock up their cats and referenced antifreeze, relocation, a pitchfork, and a crossbow.
In a now-deleted post on Facebook from earlier this afternoon, animal humane officers reportedly from Animal Friends of Allegheny County respond to his house after a concerned neighbor called about a cat. Giel can be heard telling them, "...lucky I didn't keep him (the cat) for a week and fu***ng drown him....he ain't my fu***ng cat, he don't belong here...I talked to the neighbor, he won't be back....I sent him home wet and bloody... He ate and ate the tuna cans... it bloodies their face off... cut their face up... so I sent him home bloody... I left him in there for fu***ng 4 hours to bite his own face off...F**k that cat. I hate them rodents..."
At one point, Giel can be heard saying he (the cat) is lucky he did not keep the cat for a week and drown it. Later in the same video, he can be heard saying the cat got out and that he did not drown the cat.
Giel can also be heard asking officers if they have a search warrant. The conversation becomes hostile, and the man repeatedly says the cat is not his and does not belong on his property.
He can also be heard getting into a verbal altercation with a neighbor who says the cat is a family member and that he's never had any trouble with Giel and he wants to keep it that way.
Animal advocates were quick to jump on the now deleted post as Giel continued to respond.
The most alarming comment says, “Call the humane society on me Scumbag cat lovers! if you live near me lock up your damn cats! They love antifreeze! I can also relocate this cat to a new town! Peter’s creek is my favorite release zone!!! What to do next, is the question? Maybe get the pitch fork out and rough him up for corporal punishment! I don’t raise cats therefore he must go! You’re not welcome! I have a Crossbow just sayin I need to practice, straight between the eyes!”
Another video from the page shows a cat in a trap as Giel can be heard saying the cat ate his tomato. In that video, you can hear Giel saying he set the trap and caught the animal, repeatedly curses at him, accuses the cat of eating his chicken and tuna, warns him not to eat his tomato, threatens to throw the cat off a bridge, says he does not like him, and says he will leave thte cat sitting there all day while hoping it gets hot. Giel can the be heard saying that this is the same cat he talked about to officers, the one he said would not be back and the one he said he sent off bloody, using his own words.
Giel continued to comment on the video of his interaction with humane officers as animal advocates continued to double down.
In one comment Giel says, “Just so everyone knows I have a dream to raise deer and eat them seasonally,” then talks about planting chestnut trees for deer antlers, hunting on the property, needing a quad, and dragging deer out of the woods “two at a time.” Another comment says four close neighbors built high-walled fences “for a reason” and suggests it may be time to build across the border, ending with “Build them Walls ‘TRUMP.’”
The same set of comments also includes a post saying, “ME AGAINST THE WORLD,” followed by profanity, and another where the writer says the post was good until “the Democrats crushed it to the ground,” claiming he was under restriction or review because he “called them a bad name.” In another user-provided comment, the writer says, “I’m not allowed in public just so you know,” then claims a bar may still allow him in and says Giant Eagle still let him in after he screamed the N word when someone cut him off in a bathroom line.
All those quotes are from a person who represents himself on Facebook as Dan Giel, 50 years old, with two associate degrees, experience in home construction, landscaping, drafting and design, and as a “Veteran," according to the page.
For animal advocates, this is exactly why public awareness matters. When someone allegedly talks about cats, antifreeze, relocation, physical punishment, and a crossbow in the same comment, and when another provided video summary describes an animal trapped, cursed at, threatened with being thrown off a bridge, and left in the heat, people nearby deserve to know, and animals nearby deserve protection. A cat cannot tell anyone what happened, where it was taken, or what it survived.
Please share this so the cat’s story does not disappear. Every share keeps attention on the animals, the neighborhood, and the agencies that may need to review what was said and what allegedly happened. Don’t forget to share and keep aware.
