Susan B. Anthony. Rosa Parks. Harriet Tubman.
None of these women became respected, remembered, or taught in history because they simply complied with the rules of their time.
Susan B. Anthony broke the law by voting when women were denied the right to vote—and helped ignite a movement that ultimately changed the law.
Rosa Parks refused to surrender her seat because an unjust system demanded that she do so. Her act of resistance became a powerful catalyst for the Civil Rights Movement.
Harriet Tubman escaped slavery and then repeatedly returned to help others escape, defying laws designed to keep human beings enslaved.
They weren't celebrated because they were obedient. They were remembered because they recognized injustice and had the courage to challenge it.
History teaches us an important lesson: Sometimes doing what is right means refusing to comply with what is wrong.
Progress has rarely been made by people who were afraid to challenge the status quo.
