A note from Doug regarding the meals he so lovingly provides at ECSAP Open Mic Night:

Ever since we moved here, I’ve truly enjoyed the Open Mics. When the event moved from Park Row to the Discovery Center, I stepped in to offer an optional meal, knowing many musicians and attendees were used to dining as part of the experience. At first, we had strong participation—often 40 or more people attending, with around 30 meals sold.

Over time, however, attendance and meal sales have steadily declined. Lately, we’re seeing fewer than 20 people, with about 10 meals purchased. I completely understand that not everyone wants to eat, and I’m not offended in the slightest—but in order for me to continue offering this option, I need to average at least 20 meals. Otherwise, it simply isn’t sustainable in terms of time and effort.

I’ve encouraged our regulars to help spread the word by sharing the Facebook events and inviting others. While that may be happening in person, I haven’t seen evidence of any such activity online, which makes it difficult to gauge outreach.

I’ll continue providing the optional meal through May and June. If participation doesn’t begin to improve, I’ll have to reconsider and likely discontinue this service.

Don't miss our ECSAP Acoustic Jam Night @ Edgefield Pool Room this Thursday night starting at 6:30! Join us to jam or watch and try a delicious Pool Room burger while you are at it!

As we edge closer to a new year, I would like to take a minute to express my joy and appreciation for each of you who has contributed to promoting/playing live acoustic music in Edgefield County, SC!
