Leading this group, and ECA before this one, has truly been an honor. As many of you know, I will be moving to MS soon. The good news is... ECSAP will remain active in Edgefield! Doug Landreth, Rich Everitt, and Doug White have volunteered to keep the regular jam at Edgefield Pool Room and the regular Open Mic Night at The Discovery Theatre going! The thought of this organization remaining intact thrills me to no end.
When I first arrived in Edgefield over 13 years ago, there was nothing like this in existence. Roots, traditional, Bluegrass, and even traditional country had very little representation here. I missed it. I remember feeling so excited when Arthur Northrop first put ECA together! And so the movement was born.
Through the years of having these free music events I have personally witnessed people play their first bass note, sing their first song in front of other people and the pride and joy it has given me to be a part of anyone's musical journey is simply unexplainable.
I would like to take a minute to thank Edgefield Pool Room, the Edgefield Historical Society, The Westside Community Center, Park Row, Creative Catering by Doug Landreth, and all of the other organizations who have participated in hosting us throughout the years! Your generosity has not gone unnoticed!
I have truly met the best of people and I encourage all of you to keep going with your music! I hope others will flock to join you and that this organization will be continually successful for many years to come!
