Great news for national wildlife conservation and hunting heritage. NWTF CO-CEO Jason Burckhalter has been appointed to the reestablished Hunting and Shooting Sports Conservation and Access Council, serving under the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

As an alternate council member, Burckhalter joins a distinguished group of leaders from across the outdoor industry to advise federal leadership on:

Expanding public land access for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts

Strengthening wildlife habitat conservation and resource management

Enhancing federal partnerships with state agencies and conservation groups

Supporting shooting sports and outdoor recreation policy

The appointment gives NWTF members and partners a direct voice in shaping national policies that protect our hunting heritage and wild turkey habitat for future generations.

There’s a virus that can sometimes impact a turkey’s overall health and produce tumors. First detected in 2009, the lymphoproliferative disease virus, or LPDV, has been found in 17 states in the US and Canada. However, what are its full impacts? Researchers are still trying to answer that question. During the 13th National Wild Turkey Symposium, we heard about one research project that looked to see if there’s a link to hen reproduction.
