Southeast Chapter of Back Country Horsemen of Iowa

Southeast Chapter of Back Country Horsemen of Iowa BCHA is a non-profit 501c3 organization with members in 47 states. We work with Public Lands and Land Volunteers need to do so.

Most organizations are involved in riding and events, and such. BCHA is more involved in keeping trails open and doing maintenance and repair so we can keep them open. It is another element that has been left out of the equation. State and Federal Agencies will close trails because of erosion. They will not expend labor to repair them, it is easier to close them. We train individuals in the use of

McClouds, Polaski’s and such and teach proper trail drainage and construction. In some areas we teach packing so as to get materials and tools into areas not available by vehicle.

Don't be the silent majority... Get involved... Help your board members who have plenty to do already. Not much traveling involved except maybe the weekend of the fair. Most everything planned by phone, fb, email, etc.... Please help us out!
