Pink Social Event at Tierra Santa Golf Course in Weslaco was a success. We met so many beautiful ladies and shared our mission in the early detection against breast cancer.

A big thank you to Tierra Santa Golf Course Staff for going above and beyond to make us comfortable by checking in on us, and taking us water to keep us hydrated from this heat.

October 2nd Breast Cancer Event sponsored by Hidalgo Precinct 2 in Alamo, Texas.

A big thank you to Pat Cervantes Garcia for attending and helping me spread awareness to our community.

This courageous warrior went out there to share her story of her breast cancer journey with us and for her mother, Mrs. Cervantes to hear it for the very first time.

This month, Faithful Warriors Breast Cancer Support Group features Maricela Soto as our Breast Cancer Survivor. Below is her story:

Marisela Soto is a 44 year old widow and mother of 4 children. On November 6, 2024, she was diagnosed with Stage 2a, Triple Negative Breast Cancer with cancer in the axillary lymph node.

In mid October, she felt a lump in her left breast, therefore, she went for a mammogram. They found 2 tumors with one being 2.5 cm and the other one was 1.8 cm. She was then sent to get a biopsy and to have a marker put in place. The biopsy results verified that the tumors were indeed malignant.

Maricela had her first chemotherapy treatment at Texas Oncology of Harlingen r day before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Maricela states, "I spent the rest of the holidays sick and exhausted but so grateful to God that I caught the cancer early and have a great shot for a full recovery.

After 16 rounds of chemotherapy treatments she went for an ultrasound and they could not find the tumors. They used a machine called a stereotactic in order to insert a savings scout which is a surgical guidance system that uses radar to target and localize the tissue (tumor) that needs to be removed.

Today, Maricela awaits to be scheduled for her lumpectomy surgery. Dr. Daniel Albo recommended a lumpectomy as the tumors shrank significantly and were not visible. He is confident that he can remove enough tissue to make sure all cancer cells are removed, therefore, he did not feel that a mastectomy was required.

After Maricela recovers from her surgery, she will start her radiation and states, "I'm so grateful to all of my doctors and nurses that have been with me throughout my treatments. I pray that God bless each one of them and to guide them on this wonderful work that they do, not only for me, but for so many other patients. My faith and my children are what kept me going. I have survived a lot in my life and this is just another battle and know that God is on my side and I WILL WIN!"
