This month's Breast Cancer Survivor in Faithful Warriors - Breast Cancer Support Group 2026 calendar is Elvia Maciel Gibbs .. Elvia is a co-founder of Titi's Tatas Foundation. They are dedicated to raising awareness about breast health, educating the community on the early detection, and providing financial assistance for breast screenings.

This is Elvia Gibbs Story:

In February 2024, Elvia Gibbs, age 37, was performing her monthly self-breast exam and felt a rock hard lump on her left breast. She knew she had never felt it there before so she immediately contacted her OBGYN. Her OBGYN examined her that same day and confirmed that a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound would be needed.

Both the mammogram and the ultrasound returned with an abnormal result and the words "Highly suggestive of malignancy" were written right next to it. Two days later a biopsy was performed, and received the call no one ever wishes to receive. The doctor informed her she was diagnosed with Stage 1B Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, a form of breast cancer.

The following day she left to meet her team at MD Anderson and her breast cancer journey would begin. The next 39 days would consist of multiple scans, a biopsy, genetic testing, on infertility, and undergo a lumpectomy surgery in April which would answer all of her prayers, to clear margins and get a cancer free report.

Since Elvia's diagnosis of Stage 1B Invasive Ductal Carcinoma was at the early age of 37 and high grade of the tumor, she would require additional treatment which would give her the best chance of preventing any future recurrence. She was given 5 months of aggressive chemotherapy and after 3 weeks of radiation. Elvia rang the victory bell that symbolized the end of her treatments in November. Through it all she never lost her smile. God granted her peace, and gave her strength knowing she was never alone, that she was going to be just fine!

God has truly given Elvia a strong purpose in life. Through her cancer diagnosis, she has learned just how important it is to use the voice God gave her. She's become a passionate advocate for cancer patients and co-founded Titi's Tatas Foundation and serves as Vice-President; a nonprofit that helps educate women on the importance of early detection as well as provide financial assistance for mammogram screenings. Elvia also volunteers with the American Cancer Society Action network. She helps advocate on important topics like proper health care screenings and research for cancer patients.

Elvia states, "When I was diagnosed with cancer I felt like my life was over. God showed me that my life had just begun."

As I'm going over the stories to make corrections and finalize the next calendar - 2027 Calendar of Breast Cancer Survivors, each story touches my heart and brings me many memories of my own journey.

This next calendar we've included the story of one beautiful soul who lost her battle to breast cancer. We must always remember these women as well because this is exactly why early detection is so important. That is why this mission is so close to my heart.

Yesterday I received a text from I imagine it was either a family member or husband of a 44 year old breast cancer survivor whose cancer had spread and she passed away. Even though I didn't know her personally, I supported my pink sister through her journey with words of encouragement and prayer as I have done with so many others that have also passed away.

This plan that the Lord has set for me has not been easy. It fills me with so much mixed emotions. I cheer those in their journey and share their victories with you and then there are those that I help carry their cross when it's too heavy to carry.

These calendars of breast cancer survivors bring encouragement, victory, courage, strength and a reminder that early detection can save your life and that is exactly what Faithful Warriors - Breast Cancer Support Group is here for. We provide early detection services to underserved women and men, here in the Rio Grande Valley because early detection can save lives.

Heaven has gained an angel. Yoli Solis was a beautiful spirited breast cancer survivor whose cancer metastasized. We never actually met but I would occasionally text her to see how she was doing, giving her encouragement in her fight.

She was such a loving and optimistic soul that always looked beyond her illness and always prayed for others.

Yoli Solis, may you rest in peace in our Father's arms. No more pain my friend & no more cancer.

Yoana Chavez is Faithful Warriors - Breast Cancer Support Group featured breast cancer survivor for the month of July 2026 of our Breast Cancer Survivors Calendar.

This is her story:

In October 2024, while Yoana Chavez's son rested his head upon her chest, she immediately felt a rare pain that she had never felt before. She went to her doctor and was sent to get a biopsy followed by a pet-scan and an MRI.

At the age of 46 years young, Yoana was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 3, HER 2 Positive which is an aggressive type of breast cancer.

No one is ever prepared to hear, "You Have Cancer," but even at that point, she knew she had to remain as strong as possible. Like many women, Yoana's head was filled with many questions such as, what is going to happen to me? Will I be getting really sick with my treatments? Will I be losing my hair? Is it going to be painful? What worried her the most was her family. She was also worried if she would be able to meet all her financial needs.

Fear brought her to desperation, and desperation led her to prayer. Prayer gave her a different perspective in life and a complete turnaround, leaving all of her worries and burdens in God's hands, telling herself, "I've got this!"

Yoana completed her six rounds of chemotherapy treatments and in June 2025, she had a double mastectomy, the removal of both breasts. She is currently recovering and will be doing her reconstructive surgery as soon as she possibly can and states, "I still have a long ways to go but I can't wait for this journey to be over."

I Celebrate ME.......A Survivor.

In many aspects of my life I faced many demons. At a young age I learned to walk life standing strong, fearless, and held back many tears from falling.

This woman in her solitude, let her tears flow but once again, she wiped those tears and stood up straight, held her chin up high and faced every storm and every season in her life with grace, gratitude, and with faith in God Almighty.

Just 1 out of 100 every breast cancer diagnoses in the U.S. is found in a man.

"X-Men" Actor Tyler Mane has revealed that he has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Mane, best known for playing Sabertooth in "X-Men" as well as in "Deadpool & Wolverine," shared his diagnosis Tuesday in a video on social media.

"I have some bad news. I start chemotherapy today," Mane said adding in the video's caption that he was diagnosed with breast cancer, calling it "super rare."

Mane did not share further details about his diagnosis or treatment.

ABC News has reached out to the actor for comment.

In his post, Mane said he hopes to raise awareness about breast cancer in men, saying that he "wants to change" the reality that the condition is "rarely talked about."

In the United States, around one of 100 breast cancer diagnoses is found in a man, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends that women between ages 40 and 74 who are at average risk for breast cancer get a mammogram every two years.

The symptoms of breast cancer in men include abnormalities around the breast area, including a lump or swelling, redness or flaky skin, ni**le discharge and pain in the ni**le area, according to the CDC.

Like a woman, a man's risk of breast cancer is increased if they have either the BRCA1 or BCRA2 genes

Other risk factors for breast cancer in men include being over the age of 50, a family history of breast cancer, obesity, exposure to hormone and radiation therapy treatments, liver disease and certain conditions that affect the testicles, according to the CDC.

There are currently no screening recommendations for breast cancer screening in men.

Mayra Garcia is Faithful Warriors - Breast Cancer Support Group featured survivor for our 2026 calendar for the month of June.

This is a reminder to all women that breast cancer does not discriminate age or the s*x of an individual. This is why self breast examinations and doing your
mammograms is so very important in the early detection of breast cancer. The earlier it is found, the better the chance of survival for women or men.

Below is Mayra's story of strength and resilience:

At a very young age of 29, Mayra Garcia was diagnosed with Stage 2 Ductal Breast Cancer. She discovered the lump in her right breast. Since there is no history of cancer in her family, Mayra didn't think much of it.

After a couple of months went by and she noticed that the lump did not go away, she noticed that the lump had grown so she decided to see a doctor. Thankfully her employer had just provided health insurance for her. A mammogram was recommended including surgery, followed by a biopsy.

Mayra was shocked when her results came back as positive for Stage 2 Ductal Cancer and states, "When I heard those words come out of the doctor's mouth, I remember asking her to verify my date of birth and told her, that can't be me! I felt a cold bucket of water fell on me."

Mayra's cancer had traveled to some of her lymph nodes. This news came as a shock to her as there was NO FAMILY HISTORY OF CANCER IN HER FAMILY.

She received chemotherapy for 6 long months followed by 45 consecutive days of radiation. The doctors recommended a double mastectomy, and decided to have reconstructive surgery.

Mayra had a long flight for one year with treatments and surgeries, but she couldn't have done it all without God first, and her support team that stood by her every step of the way, her loving mother, husband, family and friends.

Today Mayra is a 14 year Breast Cancer Survivor and is a grateful mother to a healthy 10 year old son, Angel Gael. She not only beat the odds in breast cancer, but she also conceived with only a 3% chance. When doctors said there was only a slight chance to be a mother, God sent her a miracle baby. All honor and glory to our God Almighty.

Mayra states, "I thank God for his miracle of my second chance in life and for the opportunity to see my son grow. My advice to everyone is self-examination. It truly saves lives!"
