Mayra Garcia is Faithful Warriors - Breast Cancer Support Group featured survivor for our 2026 calendar for the month of June.

This is a reminder to all women that breast cancer does not discriminate age or the s*x of an individual. This is why self breast examinations and doing your
mammograms is so very important in the early detection of breast cancer. The earlier it is found, the better the chance of survival for women or men.

Below is Mayra's story of strength and resilience:

At a very young age of 29, Mayra Garcia was diagnosed with Stage 2 Ductal Breast Cancer. She discovered the lump in her right breast. Since there is no history of cancer in her family, Mayra didn't think much of it.

After a couple of months went by and she noticed that the lump did not go away, she noticed that the lump had grown so she decided to see a doctor. Thankfully her employer had just provided health insurance for her. A mammogram was recommended including surgery, followed by a biopsy.

Mayra was shocked when her results came back as positive for Stage 2 Ductal Cancer and states, "When I heard those words come out of the doctor's mouth, I remember asking her to verify my date of birth and told her, that can't be me! I felt a cold bucket of water fell on me."

Mayra's cancer had traveled to some of her lymph nodes. This news came as a shock to her as there was NO FAMILY HISTORY OF CANCER IN HER FAMILY.

She received chemotherapy for 6 long months followed by 45 consecutive days of radiation. The doctors recommended a double mastectomy, and decided to have reconstructive surgery.

Mayra had a long flight for one year with treatments and surgeries, but she couldn't have done it all without God first, and her support team that stood by her every step of the way, her loving mother, husband, family and friends.

Today Mayra is a 14 year Breast Cancer Survivor and is a grateful mother to a healthy 10 year old son, Angel Gael. She not only beat the odds in breast cancer, but she also conceived with only a 3% chance. When doctors said there was only a slight chance to be a mother, God sent her a miracle baby. All honor and glory to our God Almighty.

Mayra states, "I thank God for his miracle of my second chance in life and for the opportunity to see my son grow. My advice to everyone is self-examination. It truly saves lives!"

Delma Caballero Pedraza is Faithful Warriors - Breast Cancer Support Group's Featured Breast Cancer Survivor in our 2026 Calendar for the month of May. This courageous survivor shares her story with us below.

Delma L Garza-Escobar started to have symptoms of Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) in July 2018, but her diagnosis wasn't made until several months later. Upon learning that she had IBC, Delma went to MD Anderson for treatment.

This warrior enrolled in a newly opened clinical trial that combined a targeted drug with a standard chemotherapy. This decision required her to travel to MD Anderson for treatments, a commitment made possible by the tremendous support of her family over those 6 months.

Delma states, "Chemotherapy was undoubtedly challenging, but the love of God and unwaivering support of my family, friends, and my dedicated medical team saw me through this journey."

Following chemotherapy, she still had cancer remaining in her breast and 12 positive lymph nodes, requiring radiation twice daily. Subsequently she was offered another clinical trial to explore if immunotherapy could further reduce her risk of a recurrence. She was nearing the completion of the two year immunotherapy regimen when elevated liver enzymes led to discontinuation of her treatment. Thankfully, she continues to take hormone blocking medication and states, "To this day, my cancer has not returned."

Delma states, "October holds a profound significance for me, a time for personal reflection. Thanks be to God's grace, this October 29th marks my sixth year since I heard the words you're cancer free. This milestone serves as a powerful reminder of the critical importance of promoting annual check-ups. I urge you to share this message with your loved ones and encourage them to prioritize these potentially life-saving appointments."

Jesus, please quiet those "What If's" that crosses our mind every time each cancer survivor has to go get their exams done once again. Quiet our hearts when our emotions run wild and our tears begin to fall. Jesus, place your holy hands over each one of us and calm our storms every time we sail through our storms filled with the fear of a new cancer return or the treatments not doing their job. Fill our hearts with hope, courage, and understanding, knowing you are faithfully always with us in our weakest moments.

I cannot quiet my thoughts but God can ✝️🙏🙌🫂

Faithful Warriors - Breast Cancer Support Group is honored to share the story of Monica Valadez, a Stage 3 Breast Cancer Survivor. Below is her story:

Monica Valadez, is a wife and mother to 3 amazing children. She was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at the early age of 50 years old and states, "Literally from one day to the next, it's when everything came to light."

It was on one late September day in 2021 when Monica felt a big lump on her right breast and said that from that moment on, everything went rapidly from getting her appointment, to getting her biopsy, followed by receiving the worst news any woman could ever imagine hearing, "You have cancer." The news was a big shock and it took her a while for the news to actually register her mind. When it finally did, she told the doctor, "Cancer is NOT going to win, and my life is NOT going to change!"

Monica claims that she couldn't have done it that day without the support from her husband and sister. They were her ears and were able to explain what the doctor had said.

By November, Monica started her chemo treatments and received 16 rounds of chemo while she continued working. After her treatments, she had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery that was scheduled for the same day. After she recuperated from her surgeries, she got her clearance to return to work and continue with 30 rounds of radiation treatments.

Monica started that work gave her purpose, because it kept her busy and distracted her from the battle she was facing, Breast Cancer. This warrior was determined not to let cancer win - So SHE DID.

Today Monica states, "My life continues with my family as my first priority. Cancer gave me a reason to be the best version of myself because at that point, you realize that fear can either cripple you or motivate you. I chose to let fear be my motivator to survive this fight and to tell my story to bring Awareness to others.'

Father, I come to You in the quiet of this morning, seeking only the warmth of Your presence before the world begins its noise.

Teach me to embrace the silence, to find the sacred in the stillness, and to listen for Your gentle whisper in the soft light of dawn.

Help me to set aside the hurried thoughts, the list of worries, and the need to control every outcome of this day.

Remind me that You are already in the moments I haven't reached yet, holding the sun in its place and my heart in Your hands.

Give me a spirit that is unhurried, calm, and deeply rooted in the peace that only comes from knowing You are God.

Teach me to rest in the shadow of Your wings, finding comfort, safety, and a quiet joy that the world cannot give or take away.

I surrender my plans and my pace to Your perfect rhythm, choosing to be less of me and more of whatever You desire for my soul today.

In Jesus name, Amen.

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. - Exodus 14:14
