We went to Florida for a DeafNation Expo outreach in Kissimmee, FL. This was a huge opportunity to reach thousands of Deaf people; it’s a non-Christian event so we truly get to be a light! We had a really successful outreach in Kissimmee, FL. We were able to engage with many individuals. There was a Deaf man whose heart was clearly hardened when I spoke about Faith but he was intrigued by one of our books. We talked about the book “Weighed down or Waited Up?” and how it discusses how we can overcome addictions and challenges with the Lord’s help. He immediately and somewhat frustratedly stopped me and said, “No, that’s not true! God hasn’t answered my prayers.” I started sharing my husbands powerful testimony, which is found in the back of the book. I showed him photos and his expression and attitude immediately changed. He got goose bumps and became excited! It was incredible to see such an openness and shift in attitude. He kept coming back to chat, and he knew Spanish sign language and a retired missionary (we had connected with years ago while on mission in Pureto Rico previously) happened to be at our booth when he came by again. I connected them and we all stood together talking to this man: hearing his story, counseling him, speaking the truth from Scripture to him, teaching about the Bible, and all praying for him. God softened his heart and it was so beautiful to witness it unfold in front of our very eyes. Pray for him as the Lord has a plan for him!
We setup a kids corner at our booth with coloring pages from our children’s books and families flocked to us throughout the day. My son, Nehemiah, was very welcoming to the kids and it was sweet to see him serve in that way as a newly 4 year old. It was beautiful to see families learn about resources to help their children. Engaging with Deaf kids and codas of all ages: children and teens was so special. We gave away a lot of our books to Deaf families.
We had the opportunity to encourage young Deaf adults in their faith. We met some remarkable young Deaf adults, and we praise God for their faith! God was clearly on the move! Let’s pray for the 98% that don’t know the Lord! 🙏🏻 🤍🤟🏻
