That’s a wrap on the 2026 BIMMA Summer Teen Program!

Seven Saturdays of learning, growth, new experiences, mentorship, and fun. We’re proud of our mentees and everything they accomplished this summer.

Thank you to our mentors, families, sponsors, and partners who helped make it all possible.

As a new school year begins, we wish all of our mentees a great year ahead. Keep learning, keep growing, and keep believing in yourself.

Last week was about discipline.

Our teens were pushed physically and challenged to think more intentionally about the choices they make, including who they choose to surround themselves with.

A special thank you to former Detroit Lion and professional boxer Alex Lewis for spending the day with our teens. From pushing them through the workout to sharing lessons from his own journey, he gave them plenty to take with them beyond Saturday.

Yesterday was a special day for BIMMA.

Our teens were specially invited to attend the Detroit Lions Community Partner Day, giving them an opportunity to experience an environment they don't get to see every day and witness hard work and excellence up close.

We're grateful to the for the Detroit Lions including BIMMA in this experience and to Marcel Smith and the Chick-fil-A Lincoln Park team for adding another meaningful moment to the day.

Opportunities like these are another reminder of what mentorship can look like beyond the classroom.

Last week's session was about becoming.

Our teens were reminded that mistakes are part of growth. They explored confidence, identity, and the importance of making choices that reflect who they are becoming.

A special thank you to Baron Warren and Alisha LaShawn Love for investing in our teens. Thank you for sharing practical wisdom, real-life experiences, and encouragement they can carry with them long after the program ends.

Week 4 was all about expanding what’s possible.

Our teens heard firsthand from entrepreneur Breanna Armstrong, founder of Jesus & Sneakers, who showed them that age is never a limit when it comes to building something great.

The day continued with a behind-the-scenes tour of Ford Field, where they learned about the many career paths that make game day happen, both on and off the field.

Every experience is another step toward helping our teens dream bigger and see new possibilities for their future.

Week 3 was all about preparing for real life.

Our teens stepped into adulthood for a day at Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan, where they managed a budget, made financial decisions, and learned firsthand what it takes to balance everyday responsibilities.

Experiences like these help turn lessons into lifelong skills.

Week 2 was all about building smart money habits because they start early.

Our teens learned the fundamentals of budgeting, saving, investing, and building generational wealth from special guest Michael Cheatham of Comerica Bank. Then they put the notebooks away, hit the bowling lanes, and enjoyed some well-earned fun together.

Teaching financial literacy today helps prepare them for the opportunities they'll face tomorrow.

Week 1 is in the books. 💙

Last week, our teens kicked things off by learning the power of vision, setting goals, and creating vision boards that reflect where they want to go.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend! 🇺🇸 We’ll be back next Saturday, and we can’t wait to see what Week 2 has in store.

Last Saturday, the teens and their families kicked off the summer at MJR Southgate Cinema by meeting the BIMMA staff and mentors, learning what to expect, enjoying complimentary food and snacks, and watching an inspiring film together.

The countdown is officially on. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back this Saturday, June 27.

Special thanks to MJR Southgate Cinema for hosting this year’s orientation and helping us get the summer started right. 💙
