FREE EVENT: Don’t miss your chance to see the Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy steam locomotive roll through Echo
THURSDAY MORNING APRIL 2
Departing Evanston at 9am, the train is expected to reach Echo between 10:30 and 11:15am, then on to Morgan at for a half-hour whistle stop at 11:45am.
To celebrate the occasion, the Echo Church will open its doors at 10am – a perfect opportunity to so stop by before or after the Big Boy passes and learn more about the town’s rich railroad heritage.
Introduced by the Union Pacific in 1941, the Big Boy steam
locomotive was designed to move heavy freight across the steep grades between Ogden and Evanston. Weighing in at roughly 1.2 million pounds, the massive articulated locomotives remain the largest steam engine ever built – a true icon of American railroading.
