ECWIT actors participated in the culminating event of the Eau Claire Police Department's week-long Crisis Intervention Team training on Friday, May 1. Portraying individuals experiencing mental health crises, actors provided simulated experiences for law enforcement staff to practice strategies of de-escalation training they learned during the week. ECWIT's Ann Pearson was recognized by ECPD for her 10 years of involvement with the program. Ann was instrumental in expanding ECWIT's role in the CIT training to recruit and train actors and develop realistic scenarios.
Congratulations, Ann!
And thank you ECPD for prioritizing this important training!

Meet Abigail (played by Susie Draeger)! Abigail and her husband live in Bloomer, where they have resided for nearly 50 years. As they age, some things are becoming more difficult. This puts a lot of pressure on her son, who takes on a lot of burden. She is hesitant to ask for help because that would mean admitting that she’s getting old and still remembers when her own mother went into a nursing home.

See her story on stage this weekend October 3rd-5th at the Grand. Tickets are available at the door.

Meet Ben (played by Will O'Brien)! Ben grew up outside Bloomer, in the house where his parents still live. Not one for college, he began working full time at a large, midwest based home improvement retailer after graduation. He eventually worked his way up through the store, and then to the general office and now has a career in merchandising at that chain. He is at a challenging point in his life; a point where he is ready to see his two teenagers spread their wings and leave the nest, but also where his parents need a lot more help. While waiting for his dad to finish an angioplasty, he has a difficult conversation with his mother in the waiting room.

Come see his story in “Waiting Room” October 3rd-4th at 7:30 pm and October 5th at 1:30 pm at the Grand. Tickets are available at the door.

After his passing, Carol began a mission to make up for lost traveling time along with her sister. Unfortunately, now her sister is experiencing health problems and needs some prayers answered. Always one to share her experiences, she now advises anyone she meets to simultaneously seize the day, but also to trust in God.

Come see her story in “Waiting Room” October 3rd-4th at 7:30 pm and October 5th at 1:30 pm at the Grand. Tickets are available at the door.
