First Position began in 2012 by Talyn McKinley at the age of 18 years old. A local homeschooler, dancer and missionary with a passion to reach the lost, to worship the Lord through dance and disciple young people to live a life set apart for Christ! For the last 9 years, First Position has served hundreds of students, reached thousands in our performances, and discipled and trained dancers to glor
ify the Lord with their gifts and their life. In 2021, the foundation became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and a new chapter began. Talyn McKinley stepped into the executive director role and the organization is now run by our incredible board of directors and staff. First Position's mission is to train dancers in the art of worship dance, disciple them in the Word of God and launch them where the Spirit leads. We do this in many different ways throughout the year with weekly dance classes and bible studies, discipleship training programs both during the school year and summer, as well as performances in many different venues and places to spread the Gospel through dance. We accept students as young as 2.5 to college age, but all ages are truly welcome! We offer styles in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip-hop. Our bible studies give our students an opportunity to grow in our relationship with God. Our mentorship with strong believers, and fellowship with like-minded people is what makes it possible for us to say First Position is truly a family. Our desire is to continue to grow, expand and reach new places and we can't wait to have you part of our family!
