Junior League of Eau Claire is proud to announce that United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley is now the new home of The Diaper Bank (Eau Claire, WI) - A Project of the Junior League of Eau Claire.

Junior League of Eau Claire has a long history of creating programs in the Chippewa Valley and passing them to a trusted community partner to ensure the community continues to receive the benefits of the programs for years to come.

We're confident that UWGCV will continue bring thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of diapers to the Chippewa Valley.

We especially want to thank all the partners, from individuals to small business to large companies, that have had diaper drives, contributed funds, and donated time to ensure every bottom in the Chippewa Valley is covered. We encourage you to continue your journey in helping babies and infants in need by donating the new UWGCV Diaper Bank.

To The National Diaper Bank Network, thank you for helping make the Chippewa Valley successful in our endeavor. You have a fantastic new partner to continue to raise awareness and grow.

To the Chippewa Valley and all of our supporters,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the dissolution of the Junior League of Eau Claire as of May 31, 2024.

Junior League of Eau Claire has been making a difference in our communities since 1931. First, as the Women's Service League of Eau Claire from 1931 - 1992, then in 1993 as an official Junior League. Our projects have ranged from food security and literacy, clothing drives and the arts, health and wellness, and everything in between.

While we wish we could continue to serve our communities, our membership has declined to a place that we are not able to sustain our day-to-day operations in an effective manner. In addition, donations across all non-profit organizations, including Junior League of Eau Claire, have declined.

As a ray of hope, we have big plans coming for The Diaper Bank in the next several months. Our transition plan to keep bottoms covered in the Chippewa Valley (and hopefully beyond!) is still coming together - watch socials for details!

In closing, we want to extend our warmest thank you to all that have participated, supported, and donated over the last 93 years. We wouldn't have made as big of an impact as we have without you.

Legislation, policy, and advocacy are important tools to address domestic violence. The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) was passed in 1994 as the first U.S. federal legislation acknowledging domestic violence and sexual assault as crimes. The protections and provisions afforded by this legislation were subsequently expanded and improved in the Violence Against Women Act of 2000 (VAWA 2000) and the Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act of 2005 (VAWA 2005). The Junior League has been combatting domestic violence with innovative programs since the 1980s. In 1984, Junior Leagues contributed to the passage of the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act, the first federal legislation to address domestic violence. Junior Leagues have continuously worked on the forefront of domestic violence prevention by educating the public, operating transitional housing, and providing counseling to victims. Each October we observe Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the United States. According to the CDC, about 1 in 4 women and nearly 1 in 10 men have experienced intimate partner violence during their lifetime. Join us during the month of October to learn more and get access to resources to raise awareness about this important issue.
