Our Story

The Plaza Arts Center is located in a renovated schoolhouse built in 1916. The renovation took ten years from conception to completion and the center opened to the public in March 2008. The Plaza Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to bring artistic and cultural opportunities to the residents of Putnam County and the surrounding Lake area. The Plaza Arts Center has become a crown jewel of the Eatonton Historic District and a core magnet for the arts in the greater Eatonton, Putnam County, and Lake Communities.

OUR MISSION – Connecting the Community through the Arts. We remain focused on promoting interest and participation in the visual and performing arts by providing programs and facilities for community and regional involvement, education, and enjoyment.

The Plaza offers an outstanding level of talent and entertainment and serves as a central gathering place for local artisans, social and civic groups. None of this would be possible without the commitment of its individual contributors, corporate sponsors, and volunteers. Join us and become part of our future! There are many ways that you can contribute. The Plaza Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and your donations are tax deductible.
