It is with deep sadness we post that our community lost a treasure of a human this weekend. Dr John Ulrich from Twin Valley Veterinary was such a good person and friend.

He took seriously giving back to the community so did not hesitate to help our boys work on their Veterinary badge, even if it meant staying after hours to do so.

He always gave wonderful advice and answered any questions and he truly did care.

On a personal note, Dr John was also our own personal vet and friend. The community truly has lost a wonderful man.

To the Ulrich family, thank you for sharing Dr John with us all. We are thinking of all of you. ~ The Prater family and BSA Troop 78, Eaton.

Today, Scouts from Troop 78 visited with residents at the Greenbrier Nursing Center. The Scouts performed a flag folding ceremony, read stories and played games with the residents.

Community Service is a major facet in Scouting. The residents enjoyed a visit and the Scouts enjoyed visiting.

I'd like to give a big congratulations to two of our boys!

Xander and Caleb Prater both achieved the rank of Eagle Scout last night!

Xander is 17 and a senior in high school. One of his favorite merit badges was welding and that, along with his papaw who is a welder, inspired Xander to seek out welding as a career choice. He's currently attending the OTC Welding program at Warren County Career Center! He will graduate in May.

Caleb is 15 and still working on his high school credits. One of his favorite merit badges was Scuba Diving and that inspired Caleb at the age of 14 to become a certified diver! He is also a life guard.

He's interested in many career paths, but hasn't decided on a direction yet. He's also not finished with scouting yet! He has a goal of obtaining all merit badges and he's well on his way having earned almost 70 badges currently!

We'd love to thank the community for their support! Special thank you to the Preble County Historical Society and Nature Reserve , , Lowe's Home Improvement Richmond store, Carter Lumber Richmond, Tractor Supply Co. Eaton Location, and many ot our local Eaton employees. We thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts for your support!

One of our Scouts completed the Photography Merit Badge at the Scout Store in Dayton this past weekend. He learned how lighting can affect photos, capturing beautiful moments, and made a great deal of more friends.

Two of the scouts ventured to Purdue University to partake in a Merit Badge University. They worked on Nuclear Science, Reptile & Amphibian Study, and Animation. They also had a photo opportunity with Purdue Pete.

Xander completed his Eagle Scout project over at the historical society today. Way to go Xander!

Today some of the boys worked towards their Horsemanship merit badge with the help of Sunnie Anderson!

They worked hard today on the practical portion and it was a great experience for them.
