The Cycle Conservation Club of Michigan is deeply saddened by news of the recent loss of a dear friend. Steve Stapula, co-founder of Michigan's own SAR Offroad departed this world on May 29. His passion for the sport and contributions to the off-road community left a legacy impacting enthusiasts not only across the country, but around the world. We lost a good one.

Merry Christmas everyone! May the spirit of the holidays fill your hearts and homes throughout the season. 🎄

With 2025 winding down, The Cycle Conservation Club of Michigan would like to pause and reflect on a few blessings of the past year. First, we're blessed with a terrific membership - a growing family of good people who share the love of off-road motorcycling and appreciate how we practice it. We're thankful for the awesome trail maintainers and volunteers who keep our trails clear and safe. We value the partnerships, both new and old, with other clubs across the State who joined forces with us to clear our trails from the ice storm of last Spring. Lastly, we're thankful for the great relationships we've forged with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and US Forest Service who worked along side us toward common goals. Without their input, and without their help, this year would have been especially difficult. Adversity has a way of bringing out the best in all of us. Years from now, let's remember 2025 as a time when friends and partners put something much bigger than ourselves first. What a great time this is for trail riding enthusiasts in Michigan!

From all of us in The Cycle Conservation Club of Michigan, have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and a Joyous holiday season!

We're three weeks out from the start of Winter but you'd never know it from looking outside. With snow covering most of the state and the wind blowing non-stop, we're just glad there were no ice storms this week! To that end, we wanted to share a brief summary of the 2025 trail clearing initiative completed earlier this month. The following trails were completely cleared and reopened for ORV use:

• Atlanta
• Beaver Creek
• Frederic
• Hunt Creek
• Kalkaska
• MCCCT - from Kalkaska to Tomahawk
• MCCCT - from Atlanta to south of Mio
• Mio Loop
• Tomahawk A, B and C

In all, it was 388 ground miles of trail. Imagine a tangled heap of tree trunks, branches and scrub stretching from Detroit down I-75 to Renfro Valley, Kentucky! That's what our maintainers, volunteers and partner clubs were facing…and they got it done! If you were part of that effort, rest well knowing your contributions helped reclaim some of the best off-road riding opportunities in all of Michigan. Thanks will never be enough.

Blessings surround us. May your day be filled with abundance and joy!
