The Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) has asked the Governor to declare a 'State of Emergency' regarding the current capacity of our States hospitals. They are busier than ever. Yes, there are absolutely staffing shortages for many, complex reasons, however, this is also about a very high volume of sick people as of now. Please be kind to each other, and make sure that if you are using 9-1-1, it is for real emergencies. Thank you.

The number of fire equipment vehicles that respond to a fire is not equal to the number of people needed for the work. These are unique challenges of the islands.

Fire fighting and EMS are time critical, labor intensive, and highly technical. We're sorry for the loss of these peoples property and are glad there were no injuries. We have raised concerns with the Fire Chief and Fire Commissioners again and again about the number of people who are here and able to respond to emergencies. Career and volunteer. Your safety is our priority. We will continue speaking about the important issues.

Never use an extension cord, or a strip plug in place of permanent wiring. And dont overload the circuit even if it has all the receptacles. Stay safe and avoid a fire. Have a great day!
