On this week's Electric Doghouse, it's back to 1965 and '66 for some British Invasion groups.

The Beatles had kicked off the British Invasion in February 1964 opening the door for other British bands and artists to break onto the US charts. And in 1965, more followed.

In this show, I'm playing four albums of UK bands - starting with The Yardbirds debut LP in the states in June of '65. Then, The Beatles albums Beatles VI and Yesterday and Today released in June of '65 and '66 respectively. And also the North American release of The Beatles Rubber Soul album from late 1965. And in between the albums, it's a variety of British pop bands and singers in the years 1965 and 1966.

The Electric Doghouse with The Firedog - Tom McLaughlin, Wednesday 5-9:30 pm on WSHD-LP 93.3 FM!

On this week's Electric Doghouse, it's back to the mid 1960s -

In the the first couple of hours, I'm starting off with a music survey in a countdown form compiled by a major Boston radio station who played the latest hits of the time. It's their Top 25 hits from June 3, 1966.

Looking at these music surveys, one finds some entries have been largely forgotten while others fared better. In some cases, these songs were 'bigger' hits locally than they were on a national scale. I'll follow up this music survey with other songs from the station's music surveys in May and June of 1966.

Then, in the second half of the show, it's a non-interrupted spin of the entire Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album by The Beatles. The album was released this week in 1967.

And because "It's the third of June another sleepy, dusty delta day," according to the Bobbie Gentry song "Ode To Billie Joe" it's her #1 hit to be followed by yet another music survey and this time it's from a Chicago radio station with what was hot this week in June 1967. Because of time constraints, I'll only have time to play their Top 30.

And the hits just keep on comin' ....

On this week's Electric Doghouse - we're hitting the road for Car Tunes - a whack of songs from the 40s through the 2000s about driving, riding, stalling and being up on blocks.

Some reverent tomes of automotive excellence and tales of woe. Songs about chariots of old - when you bought a 6 but could have had a V-8, that soft Corinthian leather, maybe a nifty 8-track player, or those aftermarket mail-order accessories like fake spotlights, a wolf whistle, a stuffed cat for your back window whose eyes would blink whether you were turning left or right or that fab under-dash converter so your AM radio could get FM.

So check your blinker fluid, adjust your fuzzy dice, as we hit the road on a motorized Electric Doghouse with The Firedog - Tom McLaughlin, Wednesday 5-9:30+ pm on WSHD-LP 93.3 FM!
