Champions of Tomorrow's Transitional Housing for Women target date to open this month in the Samaritan Center has been delayed. Unfortunately our occupancy conflicted with youth education and other programs at Samaritan Center. We are in
the process of touring other buildings and facilities to ensure when our program does launch we provide women with a safe environment for them to excel in employment and permanent housing.

If you are aware of a property please contact us by email [email protected]. We are looking for a lease option for a 10,000 + square foot facility that will accommodate 25-52 women for housing.

We will keep you updated as to our Open House date as we look forward to servicing women who are homeless in Wayne County. Thank you for your continuous support.

Hello FB..
Transitional Housing for Women launch date is in the Summer of 2021

Transitional Housing for Women is a program that caters to the needs of women who are released from incarceration and lack resources to public and social services or women who are still under the control of the Department of Corrections. If you want to spread some kindness to the women in our program, please consider donating items that we will need for their housing accommodations. Please contact our office should you have items you would like to drop off that will support our housing initiative 313-799-2311.

Personal Care Items
The most important items you can donate to our residents are personal care items. Of course, the need for certain personal care items will depend on who we help—whether that’s women, children, or families. Nevertheless, most of the following items are universally needed.

Toiletries
Toothpaste and toothbrushes
Dental floss
Bar soap and body wash
Shampoo and conditioner
Deodorant
Water-based lotions

Bath
Towels
Washcloths
Facial tissues
Toilet paper
Hand soap

Feminine Hygiene
Tampons
Pads

Grooming
Combs
Brushes
Donated Clothing

Jackets
Socks
Underwear
Bras

Donated Bedding
Room and board are one of the components of our program, to help our program provide adequate housing, please consider donating bedding items, such as:

Sheets
Blankets
Pillows (new) and pillowcases
Twin Mattresses (preferably new or gently used) and Frames
Mattress liners
Pillow liners

Toys
Our program caters to women and children—toy donations will provide some comfort for children experiencing the transitional process with their mom. Make sure you donate new or gently used toys; we cannot accept poor-quality toys that are old and/or broken.

Champions of Tomorrow is looking for new board members to join our team who has a passion to support the needs of the disadvantaged population.

Our mission is to serve to support disadvantaged individuals on their journey towards self-sufficiency – promoting self – empowerment and economic independence for individuals looking to contribute to the local workforce.

Champions of Tomorrow is a 501 (c) 3. In 2019 we partnered with local human service organizations, providing services through our unique model of transportation called “Transitional Transit.” Transitional Transit services focused on supporting disabled and disadvantaged adults by providing them with the capacity to improve their lives through accessibility.

We successfully provided multiple rides to clients, patients and consumers for doctors appointments and job training thanks to the local politicians, leaders of organizations and advocates for the disabled population. Our newest program, Transitional Housing for Women embodies these principles, addressing major barriers to successful reentry opportunities for returning citizens: employment/income and landlord hesitation. Transitional Housing for Women program is for those who are still under the control (probation) of the Department of Corrections or other jurisdictions who need controlled shelter as well as access to services to reenter the community. It is our goal to work with community agencies in an effort to reduce recidivism for returning citizens. Our program will be located in the Samaritan Center and set to launch June 2021.

If you believe in supporting the needs of others, join us on this journey to support the needs of women to reduce recidivism.

All inquires should be emailed to: [email protected], please include your professional background and why you feel you would be a good fit as a board member.
