Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association We are an all-volunteer organization founded in 1973 and located on Maryland's Eastern Shore to help preserve the historical Eastern Shore rural heritage
(232)

Tuckahoe is a non-profit, all volunteer organization with thousands of hours of labor donated each year in the administration of the Association, to clear and maintain the grounds, to build and maintain the buildings, and to collect and restore the old equipment and display it so that future generations will be able to learn about their proud heritage. From the founders to the present, the Association's goal is to not only display the equipment, but to operate it during shows and reunions. This not only keeps the equipment from getting lost, it motivates the younger generation to participate, so they can learn the skills and crafts of their forefathers. Farming techniques and skills that once supported the rural communities will be handed down to future generations. Collecting, restoring, displaying, and operating this equipment pays tribute to our forefathers, especially those who took part in the free enterprise system. Through their ingenuity, they developed the machinery that made the American farmer and industry more productive and safer, and reduced the hard labor required to produce the food and goods needed by the growing population.

A little bit of contrast for the evening, as we turn the soil on this land in a way that hasn't been done in likely 40 plus years, we see an example of alittle bit of yesterday, still working hard and getting the job done as today drives by in the from of progress and higher efficiency.

If theres one thing to be said, and it always will be, its really hard to beat the old ways, theres a good chance the one on the road will be retired and gone wile this one is still plowing away.

Our Fall Festival is fast approaching and we have quite a few craft vendors attending. If you’re in need of new holiday decor, come out and take a look. It’s never too early to start shopping for Christmas gifts and our vendors will have a variety to choose from! There will be plenty for the kids to do as well, including face painting and sand art.
We can’t wait to see you!

We would like to address some rumors and concerns regarding our Internal Combustion Museum. Over the past year we have experienced some changes. Several months ago a long time member involved in the museum passed away. His family made the decision to sell his collection. This resulted in several engines leaving the museum. More recently another member has decided to make some life changes and has been selling some of his collection. Sadly, this means more engines are leaving the museum.
Tuckahoe is not selling any of the gas engines in our collections. We are dedicated to maintaining our collections and hope new opportunities to display other engines will present themselves.
