Thompson Park Restoration Project

Thompson Park Restoration Project In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Garden Club of the Eastern Shore is seeking community help to restore, enhance and maintain Thompson Park.

The Thompson Park Restoration is an ambitious landscaping project spearheaded by the Garden Club of the Eastern Shore (GCES) to improve and update this important public green space located at the corner of Dover and Washington streets in downtown Easton, Maryland. Founded in 1963, the club is seeking financial support from the community to help restore, enhance, and maintain this very popular park

. The park was originally created through the generous donation of land to the town of Easton by one of the club's early members, the late Mrs. Rebecca Thompson. Her two daughters, Caroline Benson and Nancy Thompson, carry on her horticulture legacy today and are extremely active gardeners in the community. Project plans include cleaning and repair of existing hardscape, removal of dead and damaged plants, new plantings and garden beds, additional benches, accent lighting for paths and focal points, an updated and expanded irrigation system, grading the lawn and installing sod and adding an archway at the Washington and Dover street entrance. In addition, a maintenance fund is being created for ongoing repairs and plant replacements. We hope you can help contribute to this important project and any amount is hugely appreciated. If you would like to make a donation, please send your tax-deductible donation to:
