June wasn't enough. We're back for Pride Month 2: History Boogaloo!

LGBTQIA+ History Month was started back in 1994, created by Missouri high school teacher Rodney Wilson. The month aims to educate the public about LGBTQIA+ history and achievements while schools are in sessions. October was chosen not just because it falls within the academic year but to both coincide with Coming Out Day (Oct 11th) and honor the history of the 1st and 2nd Marches on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights that took place in October 1979 and 1987 respectively.

For some Maryland LGBTQIA+ History Facts;
- Delmarva Pride Center started operating in 2021 and opened our first physical location in October 2023;
- Leon's Bar is the oldest continuously operating gay bar in Baltimore, operating as such since 1957;
- The Pride Center of Maryland is one of the oldest pride centers in the country, opening in 1977. It was formerly called the Gay Community Center of Baltimore;
- In 2024, Maryland was designated as a "sanctuary state for protecting and defending transgender individuals;"
- Delmarva Pride Center now has four (4) different chapters that service the Eastern Shore. These chapters are in Kent County, Queen Anne's County, Talbot County, and Dorchester County.

Do something that make LGBTQ+ history this month, whether in the history of your community or even just your own personal history.

Annapolis Pride is this weekend! We’re still doing our nature walk at Adkin’s Arboretum at 11AM. A group of us will probably carpool from there to Annapolis. D&D in DoCo is still on this weekend too. Three great events!

Free clothes now from 5-7 PM at the Pride Center in Easton. Sorted by small, medium, large, and XL+. Come try clothes in a safe and supportive environment. Tons of fall and winter wear too!

Hey! Want to see what books we got down at our Center in Easton? Our shelves are full of q***r-focused books and stories, available for anyone who wants to borrow a book, from children’s books to YA novels, biographies and histories. We want to share the world of q***r literature with the Eastern Shore.

Our monthly book recommendation is “A Song for You and I” by K. O’Neill. This fantasy graphic novel follows Rowan, who wants to become a ranger to protect people but still has a lot to learn. They are paired up with Leone, a frustratingly lackadasical sheep herder, for a slow winding expedition. Their unlikely friendship develops and leads Rowan to question if the relationship could be more. And can Rowan leave her when it’s truly time to become a ranger?

If you want to borrow this book or any others we have, stop by our Easton Center during one of our walk-in times Tuesdays 5-7 or Saturdays 12-2.

Come join the us for a night of arts & crafts. Finish a craft you’ve been meaning to do or make whatever strikes your fancy, whether painting, bracelets, keychains, origami, the whole shabang. Alongside general craft materials, we will also be offering a unique craft: mini fish tanks. Create your own aquarium, fill it with decor and rocks, and pick a toy fish to call the tank its new home (water optional but not recommended).

Join us for a game of Call of Cthulhu. Similar to the role-playing game of Dungeons & Dragons, players take on the role of everyday people who become investigators of the unknown—whether they are prepared or not. The mysterious places, people, and situations you encounter are often not what they seem—you and your friends are the only thing standing in the way of diabolical cults and cosmic monsters from beyond space! You solve cosmic mysteries, relying on investigation, puzzle-solving, and survival skills as direct combat often only leads to horrific ends, whether death or insanity.

No experience, materials, or dice necessary as all will be provided. Players may bring their own playbook/character sheet (different than D&D's character sheets) or choose from one of our pre-made characters.
