Women/womxn — particularly LGBTQIA+ women/womxn — make it happen. Often overlooked and under-appreciated, women/womxn have long been creators, uplifters, and visionaries of the harm reduction and other interconnected social justice movements. As we celebrate Women's/Womxn's History Month, we pay homage to those who came before us while honoring the tireless work and deep care of the womxn/women leaders of today, who create brighter, safer futures for us all.

Webinar: What We Do & Don't Know About "Assisted Outpatient Treatment"

With research & subject matter expert, Nev Jones

Thursday, Feb 12, 12pm Eastern
tinyurl.com/AOTNJ212

Join us for a critical examination of involuntary outpatient commitment (IOC) with researcher and subject matter expert Nev Jones. This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of what we know—and critically, what we don't know—about IOC practices and their impacts on individuals subject to court-ordered intervention. In the presentation, Nev will address significant gaps in the existing research literature, including the striking under-development of research on due process protections and procedural justice in IOC proceedings, and systemic failures to adequately measure and document harms. The presentation will also examine IOC's broader impacts, discussing available research regarding effects on communities, service systems, and the mental health workforce.

Attendees will gain insight into the current state of evidence on IOC and there will be ample time for Q&A.

Nine states are once again attacking one of the most fundamental disability rights: the right to live in the community.

Texas and eight other states are asking a court to block protections that prevent unnecessary institutionalization of people with disabilities under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. These protections have been affirmed by the Supreme Court in Olmstead v. L.C. and have empowered disabled people to receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate rather than being segregated or forced into institutions.

If this lawsuit succeeds, it could weaken enforcement of disability civil rights and push more people into segregated settings against their will.

Disabled people fought too hard for community integration to lose it now.

PEOPLE POWER WIN! (Thank you for making this happen) ✊🏽🎉

We did it! After years of organizing and a year of strong community pressure, ALL THREE immigrant protection bills have PASSED the NJ Assembly and Senate.

This victory belongs to the people: to the families, workers, youth, allies, and organizations who made calls, sent texts, shared info, gave testimony, traveled to Trenton, packed the chambers, spoke with legislators, and stayed late to demand justice. Organizing works. People power delivers.

📌 The bills that passed:
✅ A6310 – Codifies the Immigrant Trust Directive and strengthens due process
✅ A6309 – Privacy Protection Act: protects sensitive personal data
✅ A6308 – Safe Communities Act: keeps schools, hospitals, libraries, and essential services as safe spaces

These protections set clear limits on ICE collaboration and defend the dignity and safety of our communities.

➡️ Final step: Governor Murphy’s signature.
📣 sign the immigrant protections package into law NOW. 🙏🏽
