“It’s a celebration of the courageous, compassionate people who provide . The roots of APAD show the risks abortion providers face every single day. On March 10, 1993, Dr. David Gunn, an abortion provider & father of 2, was shot & killed by a white supremacist anti-abortion extremist.

Dr. Gunn was the 1st of 11 murders & 26 attempted murders due to anti-abortion violence - . These targeted attacks against abortion providers & clinics reached a record high in 2020, with many reporting death threats, harassment, vandalism, & intimidation against them & patients. Their safety & security are at stake just for showing up to work. Despite that, they continue to show up courageously & compassionately. Abortion care providers, like all professionals, deserve the trust & freedom to do the jobs they are proud to do: provide the care their patients need & want.

The past few years have been especially tough. providers have faced a pandemic, lawmakers passing record-breaking bans & restrictions (incl ) & increased violence & vitriol. No other medical profession deals with this level of harassment just for providing essential . Nevertheless, they continue to show up, protecting our & providing life-changing care even in the face of hostility.

changes peoples’ lives & allows all people to determine their futures on their own terms. Communities need abortion clinics, & the compassionate, judgment-free care patients count on.
