A new roof can mean a lot more than shingles.

Brandon spent much of his Navy service deployed at sea, serving and protecting our country. Years later, he and his wife were facing a different challenge at home: their 30-year-old roof needed to be replaced, and the cost was simply beyond what they could realistically take on.

Through Habitat’s Repair Corps program and support from The Home Depot Foundation, Brandon and his wife now have a safe, secure roof over the home and life they’ve built together.

For a veteran family, critical home repairs can bring more than a safer home — they can bring relief, stability and peace of mind.

We’re grateful to for helping us serve local veterans like Brandon right here in our community.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our new Executive Director, Cheryl Kanetsky! 💙

We’re excited to begin this next chapter together and welcome her to the Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity family.

From the start, she connected with the heart of our organization — the passion of our staff, Board, volunteers, and supporters, and our shared commitment to serving our community and helping local families build brighter futures.

With a strong background in nonprofit leadership, relationship building, fundraising, and mission-focused operations, she looks forward to working alongside our team to continue growing Habitat’s impact throughout Lake and Geauga counties.

Welcome to the Habitat family! We’re so happy to have you here and excited for what’s ahead. 🏡

For Megan, home means peace, independence and six quiet acres in rural Geauga County.

Megan is an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran who served for five years, including deployments to Afghanistan. Over time, several serious repair needs began threatening the safety of the place she calls home — including leaks, unsafe stairs and deteriorating portions of her deck.

Through Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity’s Repair Program, with support from The Home Depot Foundation and Chardon VFW Post 6519, those critical repairs could be addressed while allowing Megan to remain in the home and community she loves.

Today, her home is safer, and she can continue enjoying the independence, nature and serenity that make it so special to her.

We're proud to help veterans preserve not only their homes, but the lives they've built within them.

Thank you, , for helping make that possible.
