Two stories stick with me-
On Saturday, an older gentleman gave us $20 at bib pickup, saying he just wanted to donate and “probably wouldn't make the foot race.” But at 7:00 AM on Sunday, there he was. He trotted all 3.1 miles and earned his medal. We later learned he was at First Encounter Beach the morning our dad was found, and he ran to pay his respects.
Afterward, two kids were looking through a collection of our mom’s race medals from over the years. The little boy flipped one over and said in awe, “She ran this on my birthday!” Seconds later, the little girl turned one over: “I found one on MY birthday!”
Thank you, Eastham.
