The Eastchester Environmental Committee has been getting enquiries about the Spotted Lantern Fly and what do to about them when you see them on your property/park etc. See below for the best answers to different situations from our good friends at Cornell. The County has several backpack vacuums that they are using and lending to municipalities, we also ordered a bunch more. We want to eradicate the beautiful and horrible invasives but not to harm all the other pollinators and good bugs.

As with any pest, invasive or otherwise, an integrated pest management approach is key to successfully keeping the population in check. Currently, the first tool in the Spotted Lanternfly management plan is stopping the spread of the pest.

Just in time for the holiday season, free Bee-Line Bus fares return from November 19 through November 27, and December 7 through December 26.

Just in time for the holiday season, free Bee-Line Bus fares return from November 19 through November 27, and December 7 through December 26.

County Executive George Latimer said: “This holiday season, we want people to visit with family and friends, and we want them to shop and go to work with ease. Leave the driving to us, and save some money this holiday season. From Yorktown to Yonkers, we have a robust system that can get you where you need to go. Now is a perfect time to try out the Bee-Line system if you haven’t already. We take great pride in the fact that our buses are safe, clean and accessible.”

This past summer, the County offered free Bee-Line bus rides and the system experienced a 37% increase in ridership during the three-month period of June, July and August, compared to the prior three-month period in March, April and May.
