Chrissy and I have sacrificed Our Lives the last 12 years for the sake of the homeless cats. When I Incorporated our rescue and called it feral cats of East Windsor I kind of put us in a corner by putting the name of a town. But here we are 12 years later and the cats own property in East Windsor. Berklee Farm.
When we purchase the property five years ago we found out that we had to become a mobile park. Since feral cats of East Windsor was incorporated in a mobile park before and we owned it now, it shouldn't be a problem. Well here we are 5 years later now we had to close the park and after all the legal issues have been addressed we now have a settlement.
We are purchasing the last building on the property. Since we need to upgrade the shelter to license with the state of Connecticut we are going to start with a clean slate and one of the new buildings. This year we are licensing as a animal shelter facility with the state of Connecticut. We still need to go through some zoning with the town. Probably a town meeting. But we'll get there quick enough.
This fundraiser is to help us with the purchase and putting the new shelter together. It needs to be safe and accessible to all the public. So we have some decisions to make here. With the guidance from the town we should be able to put a plan together and have something permanent that will be here long after Chrissy and I are gone. Our work will continue.
