Congratulations to Theresa Ramos, a member of the Colorful Dreams Board of Trustees, on receiving the 2026 Sapphire Caregivers Award.

For the past 18 years, Theresa has been a caregiver. She has cared for her mother and her sister-in-law, and for the past seven years she cared for her father, who sadly passed away on August 23rd. Caregiving is rarely visible and almost never counted. It happens quietly, day after day, carried out by people who simply decide that someone they love will not go without. Theresa is one of those people.

This recognition is well deserved, and we are grateful that she brings the same steadiness to the work of Colorful Dreams.

Congratulations as well to every honoree recognized at this year's ceremony. Each of them carries a weight that most people never see.

Our thanks to Karen Jones Williams and Eric Williams for hosting an event that gave caregivers something they seldom receive: the recognition they surely deserve and a room full of people saying thank you.

Tonight at 6:00 PM — “Care Planning Essentials: Preparing for Care at Home and Beyond.”

Free, virtual, one hour, with Registered Nurse Darlene Arroyo.

We’ll cover building a care plan: organizing essential information, preparing key documents, managing medications, coordinating among family and providers, and planning for transitions between care settings — at home, in assisted living, in a nursing facility, or across all of them over time.

Families who go in unprepared, without an informed advocate, often find the decisions are being made for them rather than with them. An hour tonight is how you change that.
